8 Koz became the father of Anub, Zobebah, and the clans of Aharhel, the son of Harum.
9 Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because she said, “I gave birth to him with pain.”[a] 10 Jabez called to the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my borders! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from evil,[b] so that I will not experience pain!” God granted him what he requested.

His mother had named him Jabez,[a] saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.” 10 Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.
