Offerings for the Temple
29 Then King David said to the entire assembly, “My son Solomon, whom alone God has chosen, (A)is still young and inexperienced, and the work is great; for (B)the [a]temple is not for mankind, but for the Lord God. 2 Now (C)with all my ability I have provided for the house of my God the gold for the things of gold, the silver for the things of silver, the bronze for the things of bronze, the iron for the things of iron, wood for the things of wood, onyx stones and inlaid stones, stones of antimony and stones of various colors, and all kinds of precious stones and alabaster in abundance. 3 In addition, in my delight in the house of my God, the treasure I have of gold and silver, I give to the house of my God, over and above all that I have already provided for the holy [b]temple, 4 namely, (D)three thousand [c]talents of gold, from (E)the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the [d]buildings; 5 gold for the things of gold and silver for the things of silver, that is, for all the work [e]done by the craftsmen. Who then is willing [f]to consecrate himself this day to the Lord?”
6 Then (F)the rulers of the fathers’ households, the leaders of the tribes of Israel, and the commanders of thousands and hundreds, with (G)the supervisors of the king’s work, offered willingly; 7 and for the service of the house of God they gave five thousand talents and ten thousand [g](H)darics of gold, ten thousand talents of silver, eighteen thousand talents of brass, and a hundred thousand talents of iron. 8 [h]Whoever possessed precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the Lord, [i]in care of (I)Jehiel the Gershonite. 9 Then the people rejoiced because they had offered so willingly, for they made their offering to the Lord (J)wholeheartedly, and King David also rejoiced greatly.
David’s Prayer
10 So David blessed the Lord in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, “Blessed are You, Lord God of Israel our father, forever and ever. 11 (K)Yours, Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and on the earth; Yours is the dominion, Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all. 12 (L)Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and (M)in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone. 13 Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name.
14 “But who am I and who are my people that we should [j]be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given to You. 15 For (N)we are strangers before You, and temporary residents, as all our fathers were; (O)our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope. 16 Lord our God, all this abundance that we have provided to build You a house for Your holy name, it is from Your hand, and everything is Yours. 17 Since I know, my God, that (P)You put the heart to the test and (Q)delight in uprightness, I, in the integrity of my heart, have willingly offered all these things; so now with joy I have seen Your people, who are present here, make their offerings willingly to You. 18 Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the [k]intentions of the hearts of Your people, and direct their hearts to You; 19 and (R)give my son Solomon a perfect heart to keep Your commandments, Your testimonies, and Your statutes, and to do them all, and (S)to build the [l]temple for which I have made provision.”
20 Then David said to all the assembly, “Now bless the Lord your God.” And (T)all the assembly blessed the Lord, the God of their fathers, and (U)bowed down and paid [m]homage to the Lord and the king.
Sacrifices
21 On the next day (V)they [n]made sacrifices to the Lord and offered burnt offerings to the Lord, a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel. 22 So they ate and drank that day before the Lord with great gladness.
Solomon Again Made King
And they made Solomon the son of David king (W)a second time, and they (X)anointed him as ruler for the Lord and Zadok as priest. 23 Then (Y)Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of his father David; and he prospered, and all Israel obeyed him. 24 And all the officials, the mighty men, and also all the sons of King David [o]pledged allegiance to King Solomon. 25 (Z)The Lord highly honored Solomon in the sight of all Israel, and (AA)bestowed on him royal majesty which had not been bestowed on any king before him in Israel.
26 Now (AB)David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel. 27 (AC)The period which he reigned over Israel was forty years; he reigned in Hebron seven years and [p]in Jerusalem thirty-three years.
Death of David
28 Then he died at (AD)a good old age, (AE)full of days, riches, and honor; and his son Solomon reigned in his place. 29 Now the acts of King David, from the first to the last, are written in the chronicles of (AF)Samuel the seer, in the chronicles of (AG)Nathan the prophet, and in the chronicles of (AH)Gad the seer, 30 with all of his reign, his power, and the circumstances which came upon him, Israel, and all the kingdoms of the lands.

29 Después dijo el rey David a toda la asamblea: «Solamente a Salomón, mi hijo, ha elegido Dios; él es joven y tierno de edad, y la obra, grande; porque la Casa no es para un hombre, sino para Jehová Dios. 2 Con todas mis fuerzas yo he preparado para la casa de mi Dios, oro para las cosas de oro, plata para las cosas de plata, bronce para las de bronce, hierro para las de hierro, y madera para las de madera; y piedras de ónice, piedras preciosas, piedras negras, piedras de diversos colores, y toda clase de piedras preciosas, y piedras de mármol en abundancia. 3 Además de esto, por cuanto tengo mi afecto en la casa de mi Dios, yo guardo en mi tesoro particular oro y plata que, además de todas las cosas que he preparado para la casa del santuario, he dado para la casa de mi Dios: 4 tres mil talentos de oro, de oro de Ofir, y siete mil talentos de plata refinada para recubrir las paredes de las casas; 5 oro, pues, para las cosas de oro, y plata para las cosas de plata, y para toda la obra de las manos de los artífices. ¿Quién quiere, pues, hacer hoy ofrenda voluntaria a Jehová?»
6 Entonces los jefes de familia, los príncipes de las tribus de Israel, jefes de millares y de centenas, con los administradores de la hacienda del rey, ofrendaron voluntariamente. 7 Dieron para el servicio de la casa de Dios cinco mil talentos y diez mil dracmas de oro, diez mil talentos de plata, dieciocho mil talentos de bronce, y cinco mil talentos de hierro. 8 Todo el que tenía piedras preciosas las entregó para el tesoro de la casa de Jehová, en manos de Jehiel, el gersonita. 9 Y se alegró el pueblo por haber contribuido voluntariamente; porque de todo corazón ofrendaron espontáneamente a Jehová.
10 Asimismo se alegró mucho el rey David, y bendijo a Jehová delante de toda la congregación; y dijo David: «Bendito seas tú, Jehová, Dios de Israel, nuestro padre, desde el siglo y hasta el siglo. 11 Tuya es, Jehová, la magnificencia y el poder, la gloria, la victoria y el honor; porque todas las cosas que están en los cielos y en la tierra son tuyas. Tuyo, Jehová, es el reino, y tú eres excelso sobre todos. 12 Las riquezas y la gloria proceden de ti, y tú dominas sobre todo; en tu mano está la fuerza y el poder, y en tu mano el dar grandeza y poder a todos. 13 Ahora pues, Dios nuestro, nosotros alabamos y loamos tu glorioso nombre. 14 Porque ¿quién soy yo y quién es mi pueblo, para que pudiéramos ofrecer voluntariamente cosas semejantes? Pues todo es tuyo, y de lo recibido de tu mano te damos. 15 Porque nosotros, extranjeros y advenedizos somos delante de ti, como todos nuestros padres; y nuestros días sobre la tierra, cual sombra que no dura. 16 Jehová, Dios nuestro, toda esta abundancia que hemos preparado para edificar Casa a tu santo nombre, de tu mano procede y todo es tuyo. 17 Yo sé, Dios mío, que tú escudriñas los corazones, y que la rectitud te agrada; por eso yo con rectitud de mi corazón voluntariamente te he ofrecido todo esto, y ahora he visto con alegría que tu pueblo, reunido aquí ahora, ha dado para ti espontáneamente. 18 Jehová, Dios de Abraham, de Isaac y de Israel, nuestros padres, conserva perpetuamente esta voluntad del corazón de tu pueblo y encamina su corazón a ti. 19 Asimismo da a mi hijo Salomón corazón perfecto, para que guarde tus mandamientos, tus testimonios y tus estatutos, para que haga todas las cosas, y te edifique la Casa para la cual yo he hecho preparativos.»
20 Después dijo David a toda la congregación: «Bendecid ahora a Jehová, vuestro Dios.» Entonces toda la congregación bendijo a Jehová, Dios de sus padres, e inclinándose adoraron delante de Jehová y del rey.
21 Al día siguiente sacrificaron víctimas y ofrecieron holocaustos a Jehová; mil becerros, mil carneros, mil corderos con sus libaciones, y muchos sacrificios de parte de todo Israel. 22 Y comieron y bebieron delante de Jehová aquel día con gran gozo; y dieron por segunda vez la investidura del reino a Salomón hijo de David, y ante Jehová lo ungieron como príncipe, y a Sadoc, como sacerdote. 23 Se sentó Salomón como rey en el trono de Jehová en lugar de su padre David, y fue prosperado; y le obedeció todo Israel. 24 Todos los príncipes y poderosos, y todos los hijos del rey David, prestaron homenaje al rey Salomón. 25 Y Jehová engrandeció en extremo a Salomón a los ojos de todo Israel, y le dio tal gloria en su reino, cual ningún rey la tuvo antes que él en Israel.
Muerte de David(A)
26 Así reinó David hijo de Isaí sobre todo Israel. 27 El tiempo que reinó sobre Israel fue cuarenta años. Siete años reinó en Hebrón y treinta y tres reinó en Jerusalén. 28 Murió en buena vejez, lleno de días, de riquezas y de gloria. Reinó en su lugar Salomón, su hijo.
29 Los hechos del rey David, desde el primero hasta el último, están escritos en el libro de las crónicas del vidente Samuel, en las crónicas del profeta Natán, y en las crónicas del vidente Gad, 30 con todo lo relativo a su reinado y su poder, y los cosas que le ocurrieron a él, a Israel y a todos los reinos de aquellas tierras.
