29 King David said to all the assembly, “Solomon my son, the one whom God has chosen, is young and inexperienced, and the work is great since the palace is not for a man but for the Lord God. 2 So with all my might I have prepared for the house of my God: gold for the things of gold, silver for the things of silver, bronze for the things of bronze, iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood, along with onyx stones and stones for setting, stones of antimony, multicolored stones, and every precious stone, even alabaster in abundance. 3 Moreover, in my devotion to the house of my God I have offered from my own property, gold and silver, which I give for the house of my God, over and above that which I prepared for the holy dwelling place: 4 three thousand talents[a] of gold of the gold of Ophir and seven thousand talents[b] of refined silver for overlaying the walls of the house; 5 of gold for the things of gold and of silver for the things of silver, even for all the handiwork of the craftsmen. Now, who is willing to consecrate himself today to the Lord?”
6 Then the leaders of the fathers’ houses, the leaders of the tribes of Israel, the captains of thousands and hundreds, and the officials of the king’s workers offered willingly. 7 Also they donated to the service of the house of God five thousand talents[c] of gold and ten thousand darics[d] of gold, ten thousand talents[e] of silver, eighteen thousand talents[f] of bronze, and one hundred thousand talents[g] of iron. 8 Whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the Lord in the custody of Jehiel the Gershonite. 9 Then the people rejoiced because they had offered willingly, for with a whole heart they had offered freely to the Lord; and King David also rejoiced greatly.
A Prayer of David
10 So David blessed the Lord in the presence of all the assembly, and David said,
“Blessed are You, O Lord,
the God of Israel,
our Father forever and ever.
11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power,
and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty,
for everything in the heavens and the earth is Yours.
Yours is the kingdom, O Lord,
and You exalt Yourself as head above all.
12 Riches and honor flow from You,
and You rule over all.
In Your hand are power and might,
and in Your hand it is to make great and to strengthen all.
13 So now, our God, we give thanks to You,
and praise Your glorious name.
14 “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to offer so freely as this? For everything comes from You, even from Your own hand we have given to You. 15 For we are strangers and sojourners before You, just as all our fathers were. Our days on earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope. 16 O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build You a house for Your holy name has come from Your hand, and all belongs to You. 17 I know, my God, that You test the heart, and with uprightness You are pleased, so in the uprightness of my heart I have offered freely all these things, and now I have seen Your people, those present here, offer freely and joyously to You. 18 O Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the thoughts and intentions of the heart of Your people and direct their heart to You. 19 Grant to Solomon my son a whole heart to keep Your commandments, Your testimonies, and Your statutes, to do all these things and to build the palace for which I have made preparation.”
20 Then David said to all the assembly, “Bless now the Lord your God.” So all the assembly blessed the Lord, the God of their fathers. They bowed down and paid homage to the Lord and the king.
Solomon, King of Israel(A)
21 On the following day, they made sacrifices to the Lord and offered burnt offerings to the Lord: one thousand bulls, one thousand rams, and one thousand lambs, with their drink offerings and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel. 22 So they ate and drank before the Lord on that day with great joy.
And they made Solomon the son of David king a second time, for they anointed him to the Lord as a ruler and Zadok as a priest. 23 Then Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of David his father, and he prospered, and all Israel obeyed him. 24 All the leaders and the mighty men, and also the sons of King David, pledged their allegiance to King Solomon.
25 The Lord highly exalted Solomon in the sight of all Israel and bestowed on him such royal majesty as had never been on any king in Israel before him.
The Death of David(B)
26 Now David son of Jesse reigned over all Israel. 27 His tenure as king over Israel was forty years: In Hebron, he reigned seven years, and in Jerusalem he was king thirty-three years. 28 So he died at a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor. And Solomon his son reigned in his place.
29 Now the acts of David the king, first to last, are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer 30 with all his reign and his might and the times that overtook him, and Israel, and all the kingdoms of the lands.

29 2 The offering of David and of the princes for the building of the Temple. 10 David giveth thanks to the Lord. 20 He exhorteth the people to do the same. 22 Solomon is created king. 28 David dieth, and Solomon his son reigneth in his stead.
1 Moreover, David the King said unto all the Congregation, God hath chosen Solomon mine only son, young and tender, and the work is great: for this house is not for man, but for the [a]Lord God.
2 Now I have prepared with all my power for the house of my God, gold for vessels of gold, and silver for them of silver, and brass for things of brass, iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood, and onyx stones, and stones to be set, and carbuncle stones, and of divers colors, and all precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.
3 Moreover, because I have [b]delight in the house of my God, I have of mine own gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, beside all that I have prepared for the house of the Sanctuary,
4 Even [c]three thousand talents of gold of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of fined silver to overlay the walls of the houses.
5 The gold for the things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all the work by the hands of artificers: and who is [d]willing [e]to fill his hand today unto the Lord?
6 So the princes of the families, and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king’s work, offered willingly,
7 And they gave for the service of the house of God, five thousand talents of gold, and ten thousand pieces, and ten thousand talents of silver, and eighteen thousand talents of brass, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.
8 And they with whom precious stones were [f]found, gave them to the treasure of the house of the Lord, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.
9 And the people rejoiced when they offered willingly: for they offered willingly unto the Lord, with a [g]perfect heart. And David the king also (A)rejoiced with great joy.
10 Therefore David blessed the Lord before all the Congregation, and David said, Blessed be thou, O Lord God of [h]Israel our father, forever and ever.
11 Thine, O Lord, is greatness and power, and glory and victory, and praise: for all that is in heaven and in earth is thine: thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou excellest as head over all.
12 Both riches and honor come of thee, and thou reignest over all, and in thine hand is power and strength, and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.
13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious Name.
14 But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer willingly after this sort? for all things [i]come of thee: and of thine own hand we have given thee.
15 For we are [j]strangers before thee, and sojourners like all our fathers: our days are like the shadow upon the earth, and there is none [k]abiding.
16 O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy Name, is of thine hand, and all is thine.
17 I know also my God, that thou (B)triest the heart, and hast pleasure in righteousness: I have offered willingly in the uprightness of mine heart all these things: now also have I seen thy people which are found here, to offer unto thee willingly with joy.
18 O Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel our fathers, keep this forever in the [l]purpose, and the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their hearts unto thee.
19 And give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all things, and to build the house which I have prepared.
20 ¶ And David said to all the congregation, Now bless the Lord your God. And all the Congregation blessed the Lord God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshipped the Lord and the [m]king.
21 And they offered sacrifices unto the Lord, and on the morrow after that day, they offered burnt offerings unto the Lord, even a thousand young bullocks, a thousand rams, and a thousand sheep, with their [n]drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.
22 And they did eat and drink before the Lord the same day with great joy, and they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him prince before the Lord, and Zadok for the high Priest.
23 So Solomon sat on the [o]throne of the Lord, as king instead of David his father, and prospered: and all Israel obeyed him.
24 And all the princes and men of power, and all the sons of king David [p]submitted themselves under king Solomon.
25 And the Lord magnified Solomon in dignity, in the sight of all Israel, and gave him so glorious a kingdom, as no king had before him in Israel.
26 ¶ (C)Thus David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.
27 And the space that he reigned over Israel, was forty years: seven years reigned he in Hebron, and three and thirty years reigned he in Jerusalem:
28 And he died in a good age, full of days, riches and honor, and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.
29 Concerning the acts of David the king, first and last, behold they are written in the book of Samuel the Seer, and in the book of [q]Nathan the Prophet, and in the book of Gad the Seer,
30 With all his reign and his power, and [r]times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the earth.
