Military Divisions
27 The Israelis, according to the number of the leaders of their families, the officers of groups of thousands and groups of hundreds, and their leaders who served the king on behalf of the army divisions of 24,000 soldiers on duty month by month throughout the year, consisted of the following.
2 Zabdiel’s son Jashobeam was responsible[a] for the first division of 24,000 soldiers[b] for the first month. 3 A descendant of Perez, he was chief of all the commanders of the army for the first month.
4 Dodai the Ahohite was responsible for the division of the second month. Mikloth served as chief officer[c] of his division, consisting of 24,000 soldiers.
5 Jehoiada’s son Benaiah the priest was commander of the third division for the third month, consisting of 24,000 soldiers. 6 This was the same Benaiah who was one of the elite men of the Thirty and in command of the Thirty. His son Ammizabad was responsible for his division.
7 Joab’s brother Asahel was fourth for the fourth month, assisted[d] by his son Zebadiah, with 24,000 soldiers in his division.
8 The fifth commander for the fifth month was Shamhuth the Izrahite. His division consisted of 24,000 soldiers.
9 Ikkesh’s son Ira from Tekoa was sixth for the sixth month; there were 24,000 soldiers in his division.
10 Helez the Pelonite, an Ephraimite, was seventh for the seventh month; 24,000 soldiers served in his division.
11 Sibbecai the Hushathite, a Zerahite, was eighth for the eighth month; 24,000 soldiers served in his division.
12 Abiezer from Anathoth, a descendant of Benjamin, was ninth for the ninth month; 24,000 soldiers served in his division.
13 Mahari from Netophah, a Zerahite, was tenth for the tenth month; 24,000 soldiers served in his division.
14 Benaiah from Pirathon, an Ephraimite, was eleventh for the eleventh month; 24,000 soldiers served in his division.
15 Heldai the Netophathite, from Othniel, was twelfth for the twelfth month; 24,000 soldiers served in his division.
Tribal Leaders
16 Wielding the scepters of Israel for the descendants of Reuben, there was[e] Zichri’s son Eliezer as chief officer;[f] for the descendants of Simeon there was Maacah’s son Shephatiah; 17 for Levi there was Kemuel’s son Hashabiah; for Aaron there was Zadok; 18 for Judah there was Elihu, one of David’s brothers; for Issachar there was Michael’s son Omri; 19 for Zebulun there was Obadiah’s son Ishmaiah; for Naphtali, there was Azriel’s son Jerimoth; 20 for the descendants of Ephraim, there was Azaziah’s son Hoshea; for the half-tribe of Manasseh, there was Pedaiah’s son Joel; 21 for the half-tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, there was Zechariah’s son Iddo; for Benjamin, there was Abner’s son Jaasiel; 22 for Dan, there was Jeroham’s son Azarel. These were the leaders of the tribes of Israel.
23 David did not complete a census of those younger than 20 years of age, since the Lord had said he would make Israel as numerous as the stars of heaven. 24 Zeruiah’s son Joab began the census, but never completed it. Nevertheless, God became angry with Israel because of this, so the number was never entered into the official records of the Annals of King David.[g]
Civic Leaders
25 Adiel’s son Azmaveth was responsible for the king’s treasuries. Uzziah’s son Jonathan was in charge of treasuries located in the country, in cities, in villages, and in towers. 26 Chelub’s son Ezri supervised the field workers who tilled the soil. 27 Shimei the Ramathite supervised the vineyards. In charge over the produce of the vineyards for the wine cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite. 28 Baal-hanan the Gederite supervised the olive and sycamore[h] trees in the Shephelah.[i] Joash supervised the oil reserves. 29 Shitrai the Sharonite supervised the herds that were pastured in Sharon. Adlai’s son Shaphat supervised the herds in the valleys. 30 Obil the Ishmaelite supervised the camels. Jehdeiah the Meronothite supervised the donkeys. Jaziz the Hagrite supervised the flocks. 31 All of these served as stewards over King David’s property.
32 David’s uncle Jonathan was a counselor, since he was a man of understanding and a scribe, and Hachmoni’s son Jehiel was an attendant to the king’s sons. 33 Ahithophel served as an advisor to the king, Hushai the Archite was the king’s trusted associate, 34 and under Ahithophel there was Benaiah’s son Jehoiada and Abiathar. Joab served as commander of the king’s army.

Divisiones del ejército
27 La siguiente lista corresponde a los jefes patriarcales, a los comandantes de mil y de cien soldados, y a los oficiales de las divisiones militares de Israel. Cada división constaba de veinticuatro mil hombres, y se turnaban cada mes, durante todo el año, para prestar servicio al rey.
2 Al frente de la primera división de veinticuatro mil hombres, la cual prestaba su servicio en el primer mes, estaba Yasobeán hijo de Zabdiel, 3 descendiente de Fares. Él era el jefe de todos los oficiales del ejército que hacían su turno el primer mes.
4 Al frente de la segunda división de veinticuatro mil, que prestaba su servicio en el segundo mes, estaba Doday el ajojita. El jefe de esa división era Miclot.
5 La tercera división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el tercer mes, tenía como jefe a Benaías, hijo del sumo sacerdote Joyadá. 6 Este Benaías fue uno de los treinta valientes, y el jefe de ellos. En esa división estaba su hijo Amisabad.
7 La cuarta división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el cuarto mes, tenía como jefe a Asael, hermano de Joab. Su sucesor fue su hijo Zebadías.
8 La quinta división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el quinto mes, tenía como jefe a Samut el izraíta.
9 La sexta división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el sexto mes, tenía como jefe a Irá hijo de Iqués el tecoíta.
10 La séptima división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el séptimo mes, tenía como jefe a Heles el pelonita, de los descendientes de Efraín.
11 La octava división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el octavo mes, tenía como jefe a Sibecay de Jusá, descendiente de los zeraítas.
12 La novena división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el noveno mes, tenía como jefe a Abiezer de Anatot, descendiente de Benjamín.
13 La décima división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el décimo mes, tenía como jefe a Maray de Netofa, descendiente de los zeraítas.
14 La undécima división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el undécimo mes, tenía como jefe a Benaías de Piratón, descendiente de Efraín.
15 La duodécima división de veinticuatro mil, asignada para el duodécimo mes, tenía como jefe a Jelday de Netofa, descendiente de Otoniel.

16 Los siguientes fueron los jefes de las tribus de Israel:

de la media tribu de Manasés: Joel hijo de Pedaías;

22 de Dan: Azarel hijo de Jeroán.
Estos eran los jefes de las tribus de Israel.
23 David no censó a los hombres que tenían menos de veinte años porque el Señor había prometido que haría a Israel tan numeroso como las estrellas del cielo. 24 Joab hijo de Sarvia comenzó a hacer el censo, pero no lo terminó porque eso desató la ira de Dios sobre Israel. Por eso no quedó registrado el número en las crónicas del rey David.
Superintendentes del rey
25 El encargado de los tesoros del rey era Azmávet hijo de Adiel.
El encargado de los tesoros de los campos, y de ciudades, aldeas y fortalezas, era Jonatán hijo de Uzías.
26 Ezrí hijo de Quelub estaba al frente de los agricultores.
27 Simí de Ramat estaba a cargo de los viñedos.
Zabdí de Sefán era el encargado de almacenar el vino en las bodegas.
28 Baal Janán de Guéder estaba a cargo de los olivares y de los bosques de sicómoros de la Sefelá.
Joás tenía a su cargo los depósitos de aceite.
29 Sitray de Sarón estaba a cargo del ganado que pastaba en Sarón.
Safat hijo de Adlay estaba a cargo del ganado de los valles.
30 Obil el ismaelita era el encargado de los camellos.
Jehedías de Meronot era el encargado de las burras.
31 Jaziz el agareno era el encargado de las ovejas.
Todos estos eran los que administraban los bienes del rey.
32 Jonatán, tío de David, escriba inteligente, era consejero del rey. Jehiel hijo de Jacmoní cuidaba a los príncipes.
33 Ajitofel era otro consejero del rey. Husay el arquita era hombre de confianza del rey. 34 A Ajitofel le sucedieron Joyadá hijo de Benaías, y Abiatar.
Joab era el jefe del ejército real.

27 Now the children of Israel after their number, to wit, the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in any matter of the courses, which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course were twenty and four thousand.
2 Over the first course for the first month was Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
3 Of the children of Perez was the chief of all the captains of the host for the first month.
4 And over the course of the second month was Dodai an Ahohite, and of his course was Mikloth also the ruler: in his course likewise were twenty and four thousand.
5 The third captain of the host for the third month was Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, a chief priest: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
6 This is that Benaiah, who was mighty among the thirty, and above the thirty: and in his course was Ammizabad his son.
7 The fourth captain for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
8 The fifth captain for the fifth month was Shamhuth the Izrahite: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
9 The sixth captain for the sixth month was Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
10 The seventh captain for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
11 The eighth captain for the eighth month was Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
12 The ninth captain for the ninth month was Abiezer the Anetothite, of the Benjamites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
13 The tenth captain for the tenth month was Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
14 The eleventh captain for the eleventh month was Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
15 The twelfth captain for the twelfth month was Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
16 Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: the ruler of the Reubenites was Eliezer the son of Zichri: of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maachah:
17 Of the Levites, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel: of the Aaronites, Zadok:
18 Of Judah, Elihu, one of the brethren of David: of Issachar, Omri the son of Michael:
19 Of Zebulun, Ishmaiah the son of Obadiah: of Naphtali, Jerimoth the son of Azriel:

23 But David took not the number of them from twenty years old and under: because the Lord had said he would increase Israel like to the stars of the heavens.
24 Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he finished not, because there fell wrath for it against Israel; neither was the number put in the account of the chronicles of king David.
25 And over the king's treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the storehouses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the castles, was Jehonathan the son of Uzziah:
26 And over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub:
27 And over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite: over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite:
28 And over the olive trees and the sycomore trees that were in the low plains was Baalhanan the Gederite: and over the cellars of oil was Joash:
29 And over the herds that fed in Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite: and over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai:
30 Over the camels also was Obil the Ishmaelite: and over the asses was Jehdeiah the Meronothite:
31 And over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagerite. All these were the rulers of the substance which was king David's.
32 Also Jonathan David's uncle was a counsellor, a wise man, and a scribe: and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king's sons:
33 And Ahithophel was the king's counsellor: and Hushai the Archite was the king's companion:
34 And after Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar: and the general of the king's army was Joab.
