26 Concerning the divisions of the porters: Of the Korhites was Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.
2 And the sons of Meshelemiah were, Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,
3 Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Elioenai the seventh.
4 Moreover the sons of Obededom were, Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, and Sacar the fourth, and Nethaneel the fifth.
5 Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peulthai the eighth: for God blessed him.
6 Also unto Shemaiah his son were sons born, that ruled throughout the house of their father: for they were mighty men of valour.
7 The sons of Shemaiah; Othni, and Rephael, and Obed, Elzabad, whose brethren were strong men, Elihu, and Semachiah.
8 All these of the sons of Obededom: they and their sons and their brethren, able men for strength for the service, were threescore and two of Obededom.
9 And Meshelemiah had sons and brethren, strong men, eighteen.
10 Also Hosah, of the children of Merari, had sons; Simri the chief, (for though he was not the firstborn, yet his father made him the chief;)
11 Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth: all the sons and brethren of Hosah were thirteen.
12 Among these were the divisions of the porters, even among the chief men, having wards one against another, to minister in the house of the Lord.
13 And they cast lots, as well the small as the great, according to the house of their fathers, for every gate.
14 And the lot eastward fell to Shelemiah. Then for Zechariah his son, a wise counsellor, they cast lots; and his lot came out northward.
15 To Obededom southward; and to his sons the house of Asuppim.
16 To Shuppim and Hosah the lot came forth westward, with the gate Shallecheth, by the causeway of the going up, ward against ward.
17 Eastward were six Levites, northward four a day, southward four a day, and toward Asuppim two and two.
18 At Parbar westward, four at the causeway, and two at Parbar.
19 These are the divisions of the porters among the sons of Kore, and among the sons of Merari.
20 And of the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasures of the house of God, and over the treasures of the dedicated things.
21 As concerning the sons of Laadan; the sons of the Gershonite Laadan, chief fathers, even of Laadan the Gershonite, were Jehieli.
22 The sons of Jehieli; Zetham, and Joel his brother, which were over the treasures of the house of the Lord.
23 Of the Amramites, and the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites:
24 And Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was ruler of the treasures.
25 And his brethren by Eliezer; Rehabiah his son, and Jeshaiah his son, and Joram his son, and Zichri his son, and Shelomith his son.
26 Which Shelomith and his brethren were over all the treasures of the dedicated things, which David the king, and the chief fathers, the captains over thousands and hundreds, and the captains of the host, had dedicated.
27 Out of the spoils won in battles did they dedicate to maintain the house of the Lord.
28 And all that Samuel the seer, and Saul the son of Kish, and Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah, had dedicated; and whosoever had dedicated any thing, it was under the hand of Shelomith, and of his brethren.
29 Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were for the outward business over Israel, for officers and judges.
30 And of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brethren, men of valour, a thousand and seven hundred, were officers among them of Israel on this side Jordan westward in all the business of the Lord, and in the service of the king.
31 Among the Hebronites was Jerijah the chief, even among the Hebronites, according to the generations of his fathers. In the fortieth year of the reign of David they were sought for, and there were found among them mighty men of valour at Jazer of Gilead.
32 And his brethren, men of valour, were two thousand and seven hundred chief fathers, whom king David made rulers over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to God, and affairs of the king.

The Gatekeepers
26 Concerning the divisions of the gatekeepers: of the Korahites, [a]Meshelemiah the son of (A)Kore, of the sons of [b]Asaph. 2 And the sons of Meshelemiah were (B)Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth, 3 Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh.
4 Moreover the sons of (C)Obed-Edom were Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sacar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth, 5 Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peulthai the eighth; for God blessed him.
6 Also to Shemaiah his son were sons born who governed their fathers’ houses, because they were men of great ability. 7 The sons of Shemaiah were Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad, whose brothers Elihu and Semachiah were able men.
8 All these were of the sons of Obed-Edom, they and their sons and their brethren, (D)able men with strength for the work: sixty-two of Obed-Edom.
9 And Meshelemiah had sons and brethren, eighteen able men.
10 Also (E)Hosah, of the children of Merari, had sons: Shimri the first (for though he was not the firstborn, his father made him the first), 11 Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth; all the sons and brethren of Hosah were thirteen.
12 Among these were the divisions of the gatekeepers, among the chief men, having duties just like their brethren, to serve in the house of the Lord. 13 And they (F)cast lots for each gate, the small as well as the great, according to their father’s house. 14 The lot for the East Gate fell to [c]Shelemiah. Then they cast lots for his son Zechariah, a wise counselor, and his lot came out for the North Gate; 15 to Obed-Edom the South Gate, and to his sons the [d]storehouse. 16 To Shuppim and Hosah the lot came out for the West Gate, with the Shallecheth Gate on the (G)ascending highway—watchman opposite watchman. 17 On the east were six Levites, on the north four each day, on the south four each day, and for the [e]storehouse two by two. 18 As for the [f]Parbar on the west, there were four on the highway and two at the Parbar. 19 These were the divisions of the gatekeepers among the sons of Korah and among the sons of Merari.
The Treasuries and Other Duties
20 Of the Levites, Ahijah was (H)over the treasuries of the house of God and over the treasuries of the (I)dedicated[g] things. 21 The sons of [h]Laadan, the descendants of the Gershonites of Laadan, heads of their fathers’ houses, of Laadan the Gershonite: [i]Jehieli. 22 The sons of Jehieli, Zetham and Joel his brother, were over the treasuries of the house of the Lord. 23 Of the (J)Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites: 24 (K)Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was overseer of the treasuries. 25 And his brethren by Eliezer were Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zichri his son, and (L)Shelomith his son.
26 This Shelomith and his brethren were over all the treasuries of the dedicated things (M)which King David and the heads of fathers’ houses, the captains over thousands and hundreds, and the captains of the army, had dedicated. 27 Some of the [j]spoils won in battles they dedicated to maintain the house of the Lord. 28 And all that Samuel (N)the seer, Saul the son of Kish, Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah had dedicated, every dedicated thing, was under the hand of Shelomith and his brethren.
29 Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons (O)performed duties as (P)officials and judges over Israel outside Jerusalem.
30 Of the Hebronites, (Q)Hashabiah and his brethren, one thousand seven hundred able men, had the oversight of Israel on the west side of the Jordan for all the business of the Lord, and in the service of the king. 31 Among the Hebronites, (R)Jerijah was head of the Hebronites according to his genealogy of the fathers. In the fortieth year of the reign of David they were sought, and there were found among them capable men (S)at Jazer of Gilead. 32 And his brethren were two thousand seven hundred able men, heads of fathers’ houses, whom King David made officials over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to God and the (T)affairs of the king.

Die Torhüter
26 Von den Abteilungen der Torhüter:
Unter den Korahitern war Meschelemja, der Sohn Kores, aus den Söhnen Asaphs.
2 Die Söhne Meschelemjas aber waren diese: Der Erstgeborene Sacharja, der zweite Jediael, der dritte Sebadja, der vierte Jatniel, 3 der fünfte Elam, der sechste Johanan, der siebente Eljoenai.
4 Die Söhne Obed-Edoms aber waren diese: Der Erstgeborene Semaja, der zweite Josabad, der dritte Joach, der vierte Sakar, der fünfte Netaneel,
5 der sechste Ammiel, der siebente Issaschar, der achte Peulletai: denn Gott hatte ihn gesegnet.
6 Und seinem Sohn Semaja wurden auch Söhne geboren, die Häupter ihrer Familien wurden; denn sie waren tüchtige Leute. 7 So waren nun die Söhne Semajas: Otni, Rephael, Obed und Elsabad, dessen Brüder wackere Leute waren, Elihu und Semachja. 8 Alle diese waren aus den Söhnen Obed-Edoms, sie und ihre Söhne und Brüder, wackere Leute, tauglich zu Ämtern, zusammen zweiundsechzig von Obed-Edom.
9 Und Meschelemja hatte Söhne und Brüder, wackere Leute, achtzehn.
10 Chosa aber, aus den Söhnen Meraris, hatte Söhne; Simri war das Oberhaupt; wiewohl er nicht der Erstgeborene war, so setzte ihn doch sein Vater zum Haupt; 11 der zweite Hilkja, der dritte Tebalja, der vierte Sacharja. Aller Söhne und Brüder Chosas waren dreizehn.
12 Diesen Abteilungen der Torhüter, und zwar den Mannschaftshäuptern, fielen gleich wie ihren Brüdern Ämter zu, die sie im Hause des Herrn zu versehen hatten. 13 Und sie warfen das Los nach ihren Vaterhäusern, den kleinen sowohl als den großen, für jedes Tor.
14 Das Los für das Tor gegen Osten fiel auf Selemja; und für seinen Sohn Sacharja, der ein kluger Ratgeber war, warf man das Los, das fiel für ihn gegen Norden. 15 Für Obed-Edom aber gegen Süden, und für seine Söhne bei dem Vorratshause; 16 für Schuppim und Chosa gegen Westen, beim Tor Schalleket[a], an der oberen Straße; eine Wache neben der andern. 17 Gegen Osten waren sechs Leviten; gegen Norden täglich vier, gegen Süden täglich vier und bei dem Vorratshause je zwei; 18 am Parbar[b], gegen Westen, vier an der Straße und zwei am Parbar.
19 Dies ist die Verteilung der Tore unter die Söhne der Korahiter und die Söhne Meraris.
Die Schatzverwalter
20 Und die Leviten, ihre Brüder, waren über die Schätze des Hauses Gottes und über die Schätze der geweihten Dinge.
21 Die Söhne Laedans, die Söhne des Gersoniters, die Familienhäupter Laedans, des Gersoniters, waren die Jechieliter. 22 Die Söhne Jechiels, Setam und dessen Bruder Joel, waren über die Schätze des Hauses des Herrn.
23 Von den Amramitern, Jizharitern, Hebronitern und Ussielitern 24 war Schebuel, der Sohn Gersoms, des Sohnes Moses, Fürst über die Schätze. 25 Und seine Brüder von Elieser: dessen Sohn war Rechabja, dessen Sohn war Jesaja, dessen Sohn war Joran, dessen Sohn war Sichri, dessen Sohn war Schelomit. 26 Dieser Schelomit und seine Brüder waren über alle Schätze der geweihten Gegenstände, welche der König David und die Familienhäupter und die Obersten der Tausendschaften und Hundertschaften und die Heerführer geweiht hatten 27 von den Kriegen und von der Beute hatten sie sie geweiht, um das Haus des Herrn zu unterstützen -, 28 auch über alles, was Samuel, der Seher, und Saul, der Sohn des Kis, und Abner, der Sohn Ners, und Joab, der Sohn der Zeruja, geweiht hatten; alles Geweihte war unter der Aufsicht Schelomits und seiner Brüder.
Amtleute und Richter
29 Von den Jizharitern waren Kenanja und seine Söhne als Amtleute und Richter über Israel bestellt für das auswärtige Geschäft.
30 Von den Hebronitern aber standen Chasabja und seine Brüder, 1700 wackere Männer, der Verwaltung Israels vor, diesseits des Jordan, gegen Westen, für alle Angelegenheiten des Herrn und zum Dienste des Königs. 31 Von den Hebronitern war Jerija das Oberhaupt der Hebroniter, ihrer Geschlechter und Familien. Im vierzigsten Jahre des Königreichs Davids wurde nach ihnen gesucht, und man fand unter ihnen wackere Männer zu Jaeser in Gilead, 32 und seine Brüder, wackere Leute, 2700 Familienhäupter; die setzte der König David über die Rubeniter, Gaditer und den halben Stamm Manasse, für alle Angelegenheiten Gottes und des Königs.

The Gatekeepers
26 The divisions of the gatekeepers:(A)
From the Korahites: Meshelemiah son of Kore, one of the sons of Asaph.
2 Meshelemiah had sons:
Zechariah(B) the firstborn,
Jediael the second,
Zebadiah the third,
Jathniel the fourth,
3 Elam the fifth,
Jehohanan the sixth
and Eliehoenai the seventh.
4 Obed-Edom also had sons:
Shemaiah the firstborn,
Jehozabad the second,
Joah the third,
Sakar the fourth,
Nethanel the fifth,
5 Ammiel the sixth,
Issachar the seventh
and Peullethai the eighth.
(For God had blessed Obed-Edom.(C))
6 Obed-Edom’s son Shemaiah also had sons, who were leaders in their father’s family because they were very capable men. 7 The sons of Shemaiah: Othni, Rephael, Obed and Elzabad; his relatives Elihu and Semakiah were also able men. 8 All these were descendants of Obed-Edom; they and their sons and their relatives were capable men with the strength to do the work—descendants of Obed-Edom, 62 in all.
9 Meshelemiah had sons and relatives, who were able men—18 in all.
10 Hosah the Merarite had sons: Shimri the first (although he was not the firstborn, his father had appointed him the first),(D) 11 Hilkiah the second, Tabaliah the third and Zechariah the fourth. The sons and relatives of Hosah were 13 in all.
12 These divisions of the gatekeepers, through their leaders, had duties for ministering(E) in the temple of the Lord, just as their relatives had. 13 Lots(F) were cast for each gate, according to their families, young and old alike.
14 The lot for the East Gate(G) fell to Shelemiah.[a] Then lots were cast for his son Zechariah,(H) a wise counselor, and the lot for the North Gate fell to him. 15 The lot for the South Gate fell to Obed-Edom,(I) and the lot for the storehouse fell to his sons. 16 The lots for the West Gate and the Shalleketh Gate on the upper road fell to Shuppim and Hosah.
Guard was alongside of guard: 17 There were six Levites a day on the east, four a day on the north, four a day on the south and two at a time at the storehouse. 18 As for the court[b] to the west, there were four at the road and two at the court[c] itself.
19 These were the divisions of the gatekeepers who were descendants of Korah and Merari.(J)
The Treasurers and Other Officials
20 Their fellow Levites(K) were[d] in charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries for the dedicated things.(L)
21 The descendants of Ladan, who were Gershonites through Ladan and who were heads of families belonging to Ladan the Gershonite,(M) were Jehieli, 22 the sons of Jehieli, Zetham and his brother Joel. They were in charge of the treasuries(N) of the temple of the Lord.
23 From the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites and the Uzzielites:(O)
24 Shubael,(P) a descendant of Gershom son of Moses, was the official in charge of the treasuries. 25 His relatives through Eliezer: Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zikri his son and Shelomith(Q) his son. 26 Shelomith and his relatives were in charge of all the treasuries for the things dedicated(R) by King David, by the heads of families who were the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and by the other army commanders. 27 Some of the plunder taken in battle they dedicated for the repair of the temple of the Lord. 28 And everything dedicated by Samuel the seer(S) and by Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner and Joab son of Zeruiah, and all the other dedicated things were in the care of Shelomith and his relatives.
29 From the Izharites: Kenaniah and his sons were assigned duties away from the temple, as officials and judges(T) over Israel.
30 From the Hebronites: Hashabiah(U) and his relatives—seventeen hundred able men—were responsible in Israel west of the Jordan for all the work of the Lord and for the king’s service. 31 As for the Hebronites,(V) Jeriah was their chief according to the genealogical records of their families. In the fortieth(W) year of David’s reign a search was made in the records, and capable men among the Hebronites were found at Jazer in Gilead. 32 Jeriah had twenty-seven hundred relatives, who were able men and heads of families, and King David put them in charge of the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh for every matter pertaining to God and for the affairs of the king.
