The Ark Brought to Jerusalem(A)
15 David built houses for himself in the City of David; and he prepared a place for the ark of God, (B)and pitched a tent for it. 2 Then David said, “No one may carry the (C)ark of God but the Levites, for (D)the Lord has chosen them to carry the ark of God and to minister before Him forever.” 3 And David (E)gathered all Israel together at Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the Lord to its place, which he had prepared for it. 4 Then David assembled the children of Aaron and the Levites: 5 of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, and one hundred and twenty of his [a]brethren; 6 of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, and two hundred and twenty of his brethren; 7 of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, and one hundred and thirty of his brethren; 8 of the sons of (F)Elizaphan, Shemaiah the chief, and two hundred of his brethren; 9 of the sons of (G)Hebron, Eliel the chief, and eighty of his brethren; 10 of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, and one hundred and twelve of his brethren.
11 And David called for (H)Zadok and (I)Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites: for Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab. 12 He said to them, “You are the heads of the fathers’ houses of the Levites; [b]sanctify yourselves, you and your brethren, that you may bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel to the place I have prepared for it. 13 For (J)because you did not do it the first time, (K)the Lord our God broke out against us, because we did not consult Him [c]about the proper order.”
14 So the priests and the Levites [d]sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel. 15 And the children of the Levites bore the ark of God on their shoulders, by its poles, as (L)Moses had commanded according to the word of the Lord.
16 Then David spoke to the leaders of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers accompanied by instruments of music, stringed instruments, harps, and cymbals, by raising the voice with resounding joy. 17 So the Levites appointed (M)Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren, (N)Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of their brethren, the sons of Merari, (O)Ethan the son of Kushaiah; 18 and with them their brethren of the second rank: Zechariah, [e]Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Elipheleh, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, the gatekeepers; 19 the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were to sound the cymbals of bronze; 20 Zechariah, [f]Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with strings according to (P)Alamoth; 21 Mattithiah, Elipheleh, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah, to direct with harps on the (Q)Sheminith; 22 Chenaniah, leader of the Levites, was instructor in charge of the music, because he was skillful; 23 Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark; 24 Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, (R)were to blow the trumpets before the ark of God; and (S)Obed-Edom and Jehiah, doorkeepers for the ark.
25 So (T)David, the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord from the house of Obed-Edom with joy. 26 And so it was, when God helped the Levites who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord, that they offered seven bulls and seven rams. 27 David was clothed with a robe of fine (U)linen, as were all the Levites who bore the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the music master with the singers. David also wore a linen ephod. 28 (V)Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the horn, with trumpets and with cymbals, making music with stringed instruments and harps.
29 And it happened, (W)as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the City of David, that Michal, Saul’s daughter, looked through a window and saw King David whirling and playing music; and she despised him in her heart.

نَقْلُ صُنْدُوقِ العَهْدِ إلَى مَدِينَةِ القُدْس
15 وَبَنَى دَاوُدُ بِنَايَاتٍ لِنَفْسِهِ فِي مَدِينَةِ دَاوُدَ،[a] ثُمَّ أعَدَّ مَكَانًا لِصُنْدُوقِ اللهِ، وَنَصَبَ خَيْمَةً لَهُ. 2 ثُمَّ قَالَ دَاوُدُ: «لَا يَنْبَغِي أنْ يَحْمِلَ صُنْدُوقَ عَهْدِ اللهِ غَيْرُ اللَّاوِيِّينَ، لِأنَّ اللهَ اخْتَارَهُمْ لِكَي يَحْمِلُوا صُنْدُوقَ اللهِ وَيَخْدِمُوهُ لِلأبَدِ.»
3 فَجَمَعَ دَاوُدُ كُلَّ إسْرَائِيلَ فِي القُدْسِ لِكَي يُصْعِدُوا صُنْدُوقَ اللهِ إلَى مَكَانِهِ الَّذِي أعَدَّهُ لَهُ. 4 وَجَمَعَ دَاوُدُ بَنِي هَارُونَ وَاللَّاوِيِّينَ: 5 مِنْ بَنِي قَهَاتَ: أُورِيئِيلَ الرَّئِيسَ وَمِئَةً وَعِشْرِينَ مِنْ أقَارِبِهِ. 6 مِنْ بَنِي مَرَارِي: عَسَايَا الرَّئِيسَ وَمِئَتَيْنِ وَعِشْرِينَ مِنْ أقَارِبِهِ. 7 مِنْ بَنِي جَرْشُومَ: يُوئِيلَ الرَّئِيسَ وَمِئَةً وَثَلَاثِينَ مِنْ أقَارِبِهِ. 8 مِنْ بَنِي ألِيصَافَانَ: شَمَعْيَا الرَّئِيسَ وَمِئَتَيْنِ مِنْ أقَارِبِهِ. 9 مِنْ بَنِي حَبْرُونَ: إيلِيئِيلَ الرَّئِيسَ وَثَمَانِينَ مِنْ أقَارِبِهِ. 10 مِنْ بَنِي عُزِّيئِيلَ: عَمِّينَادَابَ الرَّئِيسَ وَمِئَةً وَاثنَيْ عَشَرَ مِنْ أقَارِبِهِ.
دَاوُدُ يُخَاطِبُ الكَهَنَةَ وَاللَّاوِيّين
11 ثُمَّ اسْتَدْعَى دَاوُدُ صَادُوقَ وَأبِيَاثَارَ الكَاهِنَينِ، وَأُورِيئِيلَ وَعَسَايَا وَيُوئِيلَ وَشَمَعْيَا وَإيلِيئِيلَ وَعَمِّينَادَابَ اللَّاوِيِّينَ. 12 وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «أنْتُمْ رُؤَسَاءُ عَائِلَاتِ اللَّاوِيِّينَ. فَعَلَيكُمْ أنْتُمْ وَأقْرِبَاؤُكُمْ أنْ تَتَطَهَّرُوا، لِكَي تُصْعِدُوا صُنْدُوقَ اللهِ، إلَهِ إسْرَائِيلَ، إلَى المَكَانِ الَّذِي أعْدَدْتُهُ لَهُ. 13 لِأنَّكُمْ لَمْ تَكُونُوا مَعْنَا فِي المَرَّةِ الأُولَى، وَقَعَ غَضَبُ إلَهِنَا عَلَيْنَا، لِأنَّنَا لَمْ نَطلُبْ مِنْهُ أنْ يعلِّمَنَا الطريقةَ السَّلِيمةَ لنقلِ الصُّنْدُوقِ.» 14 فَطَهَّرَ الكَهَنَةُ وَاللَّاوِيُّونَ أنْفُسَهُمْ، لِكَي يُصْعِدُوا صُنْدُوقَ اللهِ، إلَهِ إسْرَائِيلَ. 15 فَحَمَلَ اللَّاوِيُّونَ صُنْدُوقَ عَهْدِ اللهِ عَلَى أكتَافِهِمْ مُسْتَخْدِمِينَ العِصِيَّ كَمَا سَبَقَ أنْ أمَرَ مُوسَى، حَسَبَ تَعْلِيمَاتِ اللهِ.

16 وَطَلَبَ دَاوُدُ أيْضًا إلَى رُؤَسَاءِ اللَّاوِيِّينَ أنْ يُقِيمُوا أقَارِبَهُمُ المُرَنِّمِينَ، لِيَرْفَعُوا أصْوَاتَهُمُ ابْتِهَاجًا بِمُصَاحَبَةِ آلَاتٍ مُوسِيقِيَّةٍ: رَبَابٍ وَقَيَاثِيرَ وَصُنُوجٍ.
17 فَعَيَّنَ اللَّاوِيُّونَ هَيمَانَ بْنَ يُوئِيلَ، وَمِنْ أقَارِبِهِ آسَافَ بْنَ بَرَخْيَا، وَمِنْ أقَارِبِهِمُ المَرَارِيِّينَ إيثَانَ بْنَ قُوشِيَّا. 18 وَيُسَاعِدُهُمْ أقَارِبُهُمْ مِنَ الفِرقَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ زَكَرِيَّا وَيَعْزِيئِيلُ وَشَمِيرَامُوثُ وَيَحِيئِيلُ وَعُنِّي وَألِيآبُ وَبَنَايَا وَمَعَسْيَا وَمَتَّثْيَا وَألِيفَلْيَا وَمَقَنْيَا وَالبَوَّابَانِ عُوبِيدُ أدُومُ وَيَعِيئِيلُ.
19 فَكَانَتْ مَهَمَّةُ المُوسِيقِيِّينَ هَيمَانَ وَآسَافَ وَإيثَانَ أنْ يَقْرَعُوا الصُّنُوجَ. 20 وَمَهَمَّةُ زَكَرِيَّا وَعُزِّيئِيلَ وَشَمِيرَامُوثَ وَيَحِيئِيلَ وَعُنِّي وَألِيآبَ وَمَعَسْيَا وَبَنَايَا أنْ يَرُدُّوا بِالقَيَاثِيرِ وَفْقَ لَحنِ عَلَامُوثَ.[b] 21 وَمَهَمَّةُ مَتَّثْيَا وَألِيفَلْيَا وَمَقَنْيَا وَعُوبِيدَ أدُومَ وَيَعِيئِيلَ وَعَزَرْيَا أنْ يَعْزِفُوا وَفْقَ لَحنِ الشِّمِينِثِ. 22 وَمَهَمَّةُ كَنَنْيَا، قَائِدِ اللَّاوِيِّينَ فِي المُوسِيقَى، أنْ يُوَجِّهَ المُوسِيقَى، لِأنَّهُ كَانَ خَبِيرًا بِهَا.
23 وَكَانَ بَرَخْيَا وَألقَانَةُ بَوَّابَيْنَ لِلصُنْدُوقِ. 24 وَكَذَلِكَ عُوبِيدُ أدُومُ وَيَحِيَّى كَانَا بَوَّابَينِ أيْضًا لِلصُنْدُوقِ.
أمَّا مَهَمَّةُ الكَهَنَةِ شَبَنْيَا وَيَهُوشَافَاطَ وَنَثْنَئِيلَ وَعَمَاسَايَ وَزَكَرِيَّا وَبَنَايَا وَألِيعَزَرَ فَهِيَ أنْ يَنْفُخُوا بِالأبْوَاقِ أمَامَ صُنْدُوقِ عَهْدِ اللهِ.
25 وَكَانَ دَاوُدُ وَشُيُوخُ إسْرَائِيلَ، وَقَادَةُ الأُلُوفِ فِي طَرِيقِهِمْ لِإصْعَادِ صُنْدُوقِ عَهْدِ اللهِ مِنْ بَيْتِ عُوبِيدَ أدُومَ بِابْتِهَاجٍ. 26 وَأعَانَ اللهُ اللَّاوِيِّينَ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا يَحْمِلُونَ صُنْدُوقَ عَهْدِ اللهِ. وَذَبَحُوا للهِ سَبْعَةَ ثِيرَانٍ وَسَبْعَةَ كِبَاشٍ.
27 وَكَانَ دَاوُدُ وَكُلُّ اللَّاوِيِّينَ الحَامِلِينَ الصُّنْدُوقَ، وَالمُوسِيقِيُّونَ، وَكَنَنْيَا قَائِدُ المُوسِيقَى يَلبَسُونَ أردِيَةً كِتَّانِيَّةً. وَلَبِسَ دَاوُدُ رِدَاءً كِتَّانِيًّا. 28 فَأصْعَدَتْ كُلُّ إسْرَائِيلَ صُنْدُوقَ عَهْدِ اللهِ بِصَيحَاتِ فَرَحٍ، مَعَ صَوْتِ الأصْوَارِ وَالأبْوَاقِ، وَمَعَ الصُّنُوجِ وَالرَبَابِ وَالقَيَاثِيرِ.
29 وَمَعَ دُخُولِ صُنْدُوقِ عَهْدِ اللهِ إلَى مَدِينَةِ دَاوُدَ، أطَلَّتْ مِيكَالُ بِنْتُ شَاوُلَ مِنَ النَّافِذَةِ، فَرَأتْ دَاوُدَ يَقْفِزُ وَيَرْقُصُ، فَاحْتَقَرَتْهُ فِي قَلْبِهَا.

15 David bouwde paleizen voor zichzelf in de 'Stad van David'. Ook koos hij een plek uit voor de kist van God. Daar zette hij een tent neer waarin de kist kon staan.[a] 2 Toen zei David: "Alleen de Levieten mogen de kist dragen. Niemand anders. Want de Heer heeft hen aangewezen om de kist van God te dragen en om Hem voor altijd te dienen."[b] 3 Daarna liet David alle Israëlieten naar Jeruzalem komen om de kist van de Heer naar de plaats te brengen die hij daarvoor had uitgekozen. 4 David liet een aantal mannen uit de familie van Aäron en de Levieten komen. Dat waren:
5 Van de familie van Kehat: het hoofd Uriël met 120 mannen.
6 Van de familie van Merari: het hoofd Asaja met 220 mannen.
7 Van de familie van Gerson: het hoofd Joël met 130 mannen.
8 Van de familie van Elizafan: het hoofd Semaja met 200 mannen.
9 Van de familie van Hebron: het hoofd Eliël met 80 mannen.
10 Van de familie van Uzziël: het hoofd Amminadab met 112 mannen.
11 Toen liet David de priesters Zadok en Abjatar, en de Levieten Uriël, Asaja, Joël, Semaja, Eliël en Amminadab komen. 12 Hij zei tegen hen: "Jullie zijn de familiehoofden van de Levieten. Maak je nu klaar voor de Heer. Dan kunnen jullie de kist van de Heer, de God van Israël, naar de plaats brengen die ik daarvoor heb uitgekozen. 13 De vorige keer hebben jullie de kist van het verbond niet aan de stokken gedragen. Daarom heeft onze Heer God ons toen zwaar gestraft. Want we hadden niet gedaan wat Hij gezegd had." 14 Toen maakten de priesters en de Levieten zich klaar om de kist van de Heer, de God van Israël, op te halen. 15 De Levieten droegen de kist van God aan stokken op hun schouders, zoals Mozes namens de Heer bevolen had. 16 Ook gaf David aan de leiders van de Levieten de opdracht om zangers en muzikanten te verzamelen, die muziek moesten maken op allerlei muziekinstrumenten. Het moest een groot feest worden.
17 De volgende mannen werden daarvoor door de Levieten aangewezen: Heman de zoon van Joël. Asaf de zoon van Berechja. Van de familie van Merari: Etan de zoon van Kusaja. 18 Zij gaven leiding aan de volgende mannen: Zecharja, Ben, Jaäziël, Semiramot, Jehiël, Unni, Eliab, Benaja, Maäseja, Mattitja, Elifele, Mikneja en de poortwachters Obed-Edom en Jeïël. 19 De zangers Heman, Asaf en Etan moesten muziek maken op koperen deksels. 20 Zecharja, Aziël, Semiramot, Jehiël, Unni, Eliab, Maäseja en Benaja op harpen met hoge tonen. 21 Mattitja, Elifele, Mikneja, Obed-Edom, Jeïël en Azazja op citers, acht tonen lager, ter begeleiding. 22 Kenanja, het hoofd van de Levieten, moest het vervoer regelen, omdat hij goed kon organiseren. 23 Berechja en Elkana bewaakten de kist van het verbond. 24 De priesters Sebanja, Josafat, Netaneël, Amasai, Zecharja, Benaja en Eliëzer liepen voor de kist uit en bliezen op de trompetten. Obed-Edom en Jehia bewaakten de kist van het verbond.
25 Toen gingen David, de leiders van Israël en de belangrijkste legeraanvoerders de kist van het verbond van de Heer feestelijk ophalen uit het huis van Obed-Edom. 26 Omdat de Levieten nu de kist van het verbond van de Heer droegen zoals God had bevolen, werkte God mee. De Levieten offerden zeven stieren en zeven mannetjes-schapen. 27 David had een linnen kleed aan, net als de Levieten die de kist van het verbond droegen, de zangers, en Kenanja, die de leiding had over het vervoer en de zangers. Daaronder droeg David een lang linnen hemd. 28 Juichend haalde heel Israël de kist van het verbond van de Heer op. Ze juichten en maakten muziek op muziekinstrumenten. 29 Zo kwam de kist van het verbond van de Heer de 'Stad van David' binnen. Op dat moment keek Davids vrouw Michal, de dochter van Saul, uit het raam. Ze zag koning David huppelen en dansen. En ze vond dat hij zich vreselijk belachelijk maakte.
