²³ They and their descendants were in charge of guarding the gates of the house of the Lord—the house called the tent of meeting.

¹⁴ And I will appoint them to guard the temple for all the work that is to be done in it.^(A)

¹⁰ “‘The Levites who went far from me when Israel went astray^(A) and who wandered from me after their idols must bear the consequences of their sin.^{(B) 11} They may serve in my sanctuary, having charge of the gates of the temple and serving in it; they may slaughter the burnt offerings^(C) and sacrifices for the people and stand before the people and serve them.^(D)

⁴⁵ They performed the service of their God and the service of purification, as did also the musicians and gatekeepers, according to the commands of David^(A) and his son Solomon.^(B)

¹⁹ He also stationed gatekeepers^(A) at the gates of the Lord’s temple so that no one who was in any way unclean might enter.

³² And so the Levites^(A) carried out their responsibilities for the tent of meeting,^(B) for the Holy Place and, under their relatives the descendants of Aaron, for the service of the temple of the Lord.^(C)
