^33 (A)Ner was the father of Kish, Kish of Saul, Saul of ^(B)Jonathan, Malchi-shua, Abinadab and Eshbaal;

9 There was a man of Benjamin whose name was ^(A)Kish, the son of Abiel, son of Zeror, son of Becorath, son of Aphiah, a Benjaminite, a man of wealth.

Ish-bosheth Made King of Israel

⁸ But ^(A)Abner the son of Ner, commander of Saul's army, took Ish-bosheth the son of Saul and brought him over to ^(B)Mahanaim,

² And the Philistines overtook Saul and his sons, and the Philistines struck down ^(A)Jonathan and ^(B)Abinadab and Malchi-shua, the sons of Saul.

²¹ Then ^(A)they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul ^(B)the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.

^39 (A)Ner fathered Kish, Kish fathered Saul, Saul fathered Jonathan, Malchi-shua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal. ⁴⁰ And the son of Jonathan was ^(B)Merib-baal, and Merib-baal fathered Micah. ⁴¹ The sons of Micah: Pithon, Melech, Tahrea, and ^(C)Ahaz.^{[a] 42} And Ahaz fathered ^(D)Jarah, and Jarah fathered Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri. And Zimri fathered Moza. ⁴³ Moza fathered Binea, and ^(E)Rephaiah was his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son. ⁴⁴ Azel had six sons and these are their names: Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan; these were the sons of Azel.

¹² And David commanded his young men, and they killed them and cut off their hands and feet and hanged them beside the pool at Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-bosheth and buried it ^(A)in the tomb of Abner at Hebron.

^49 (A)Now the sons of Saul were Jonathan, Ishvi, and Malchi-shua. And the names of his two daughters were these: the name of the firstborn was ^(B)Merab, and the name of the younger Michal. ⁵⁰ And the name of Saul's wife was Ahinoam the daughter of Ahimaaz. ^(C)And the name of the commander of his army was Abner the son of Ner, ^(D)Saul's uncle. ^51 (E)Kish was the father of Saul, and Ner the father of Abner was the son of ^(F)Abiel.
