¹⁵ and ^(A)Jehozadak went into exile when the Lord sent Judah and Jerusalem into exile ^(B)by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.

² “Speak now to ^(A)Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to ^(B)Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to all the remnant of the people, and say,

The Command to Rebuild the Temple

1 ^(A)In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came by the hand of Haggai the prophet to ^(B)Zerubbabel the son of ^(C)Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to ^(D)Joshua the son of ^(E)Jehozadak, the high priest:

^18 (A)And the captain of the guard took ^(B)Seraiah the chief priest and ^(C)Zephaniah the second priest and the three keepers of the threshold;

¹⁴ And ^(A)the Lord stirred up the spirit of ^(B)Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of ^(C)Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all ^(D)the remnant of the people. And they came and ^(E)worked on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God,

²¹ And the king of Babylon struck them down and put them to death at ^(A)Riblah in the land of Hamath. ^(B)So Judah was taken into exile out of its land.

¹⁸ For I will not venture to speak of anything except ^(A)what Christ has accomplished through me ^(B)to bring the Gentiles to obedience—by word and deed,

²⁷ And when they arrived and gathered the church together, ^(A)they declared all that God had done with them, and ^(B)how he had ^(C)opened ^(D)a door of faith to the Gentiles.

The People Obey the Lord

^12 (A)Then ^(B)Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and ^(C)Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all ^(D)the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him. And the people feared the Lord.
