⁶ He said to me: ‘Solomon your son is the one who will build^(A) my house and my courts, for I have chosen him to be my son,^(B) and I will be his father.

⁶ But Christ is faithful as the Son^(A) over God’s house. And we are his house,^(B) if indeed we hold firmly^(C) to our confidence and the hope^(D) in which we glory.

⁹ But you will have a son who will be a man of peace^(A) and rest,^(B) and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon,^[a](C) and I will grant Israel peace and quiet^(D) during his reign. ¹⁰ He is the one who will build a house for my Name.^(E) He will be my son,^(F) and I will be his father. And I will establish^(G) the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’^(H)

⁵ And again in the passage above he says, “They shall never enter my rest.”^(A)

³ Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses,^(A) just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.

¹² Tell him this is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Here is the man whose name is the Branch,^(A) and he will branch out from his place and build the temple of the Lord.^{(B) 13} It is he who will build the temple of the Lord, and he will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he^[a] will be a priest^(C) on his throne. And there will be harmony between the two.’

⁹ Now, Lord God, let your promise^(A) to my father David be confirmed, for you have made me king over a people who are as numerous as the dust of the earth.^(B)
