³² King David appointed him and his brothers, 2,700 men of ability, heads of fathers' houses, to have the oversight of the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of the Manassites for everything pertaining to God and for ^(A)the affairs of the king.

¹¹ And behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you ^(A)in all matters of the Lord; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the governor of the house of Judah, in all the king's matters, and the Levites will serve you as officers. ^(B)Deal courageously, and may the Lord be with the upright!”^[a]

³¹ These also, the head of each father's house and his younger brother alike, ^(A)cast lots, just as their brothers the sons of Aaron, in the presence of King David, ^(B)Zadok, Ahimelech, and the heads of fathers' houses of the priests and of the Levites.

^24 (A)These were the sons of Levi by their fathers' houses, the heads of fathers' houses ^(B)as they were listed according to the number of the names of the individuals from ^(C)twenty years old and upward who were to do the work for the service of the house of the Lord.

¹² and said to them, “You are the heads of the fathers' houses of the Levites. ^(A)Consecrate yourselves, you and your brothers, so that you may bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel, ^(B)to the place that I have prepared for it.

³⁷ Of the Reubenites and Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh from beyond the Jordan, 120,000 men armed with all the weapons of war.
