⁵ Now David said, ^(A)“Solomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the Lord must be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries. I will now make preparation for it.” So David made abundant preparations before his death.

Offerings for Building the Temple

29 Furthermore King David said to all the assembly: “My son Solomon, whom alone God has ^(A)chosen, is ^(B)young and inexperienced; and the work is great, because the ^[a]temple is not for man but for the Lord God.

⁷ Now, O Lord my God, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a ^(A)little child; I do not know how ^(B)to go out or come in.

Jesus Washes the Disciples’ Feet

13 Now ^(A)before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that ^(B)His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He ^(C)loved them to the end.

^30 (A)He must increase, but I must decrease.

¹³ Yes, I think it is right, ^(A)as long as I am in this ^[a]tent, ^(B)to stir you up by reminding you, ^14 (C)knowing that shortly I must ^[b]put off my tent, just as ^(D)our Lord Jesus Christ showed me. ¹⁵ Moreover I will be careful to ensure that you always have a reminder of these things after my ^[c]decease.

^4 (A)I^[a] must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is ^(B)day; the night is coming when no one can work.

³⁷ For in this the saying is true: ^(A)‘One sows and another reaps.’ ³⁸ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; ^(B)others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”

Jesus Predicts the Destruction of the Temple^(A)

^5 (B)Then, as some spoke of the temple, how it was ^[a]adorned with beautiful stones and donations, He said,
