¹⁸ He said to them, “Is not the Lord your God with you? And has he not granted you rest^(A) on every side?^(B) For he has given the inhabitants of the land into my hands, and the land is subject to the Lord and to his people.

²⁵ For David had said, “Since the Lord, the God of Israel, has granted rest^(A) to his people and has come to dwell in Jerusalem forever,

⁹ But you will have a son who will be a man of peace^(A) and rest,^(B) and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon,^[a](C) and I will grant Israel peace and quiet^(D) during his reign.

7 After the king was settled in his palace^(B) and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies^(C) around him,^(D)

More Than Conquerors

³¹ What, then, shall we say in response to these things?^(A) If God is for us,^(B) who can be against us?^(C)

³¹ Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria^(A) enjoyed a time of peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.^(B)

¹⁹ so David inquired^(A) of the Lord, “Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?”

The Lord answered him, “Go, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your hands.”

²⁰ So David went to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated them. He said, “As waters break out, the Lord has broken out against my enemies before me.” So that place was called Baal Perazim.^[a](B)

²⁸ “Please forgive^(A) your servant’s presumption. The Lord your God will certainly make a lasting^(B) dynasty for my lord, because you fight the Lord’s battles,^(C) and no wrongdoing^(D) will be found in you as long as you live.
