¹³ He is the one who will build a house^(A) for my Name,^(B) and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.^{(C) 14} I will be his father, and he will be my son.^(D) When he does wrong, I will punish him^(E) with a rod^(F) wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands.

¹² He is the one who will build^(A) a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever.^{(B) 13} I will be his father,^(C) and he will be my son.^(D) I will never take my love away from him, as I took it away from your predecessor. ¹⁴ I will set him over my house and my kingdom forever; his throne^(E) will be established forever.^(F)’”

⁵ I intend, therefore, to build a temple^(A) for the Name of the Lord my God, as the Lord told my father David, when he said, ‘Your son whom I will put on the throne in your place will build the temple for my Name.’^(B)
