⁴ So Hanun took David's servants and shaved them and cut off their garments in the middle, at their hips, and sent them away;

But they also beat and ^(E)treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty-handed.

^4 (A)Again ^(B)he sent to them another servant, and ^(C)they struck him on the head and ^(D)treated him shamefully.

^37 (A)“For every head is shaved and every beard cut off. ^(B)On all the hands are gashes, and ^(C)around the waist is sackcloth.

⁵ eighty men arrived from ^(A)Shechem and ^(B)Shiloh and ^(C)Samaria, with ^(D)their beards shaved and ^(E)their clothes torn, and ^(F)their bodies gashed, ^(G)bringing grain offerings and incense to present at the temple of the Lord.

⁴ so shall the ^(A)king of Assyria lead away the Egyptian captives and the Cushite exiles, both the young and the old, naked and barefoot, with buttocks uncovered, the nakedness of Egypt.
