The Ark Brought to Jerusalem^(A)

15 David built houses for himself in the City of David; and he prepared a place for the ark of God, ^(B)and pitched a tent for it.

The Ark Placed in the Tabernacle^(A)

16 So ^(B)they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tabernacle that David had erected for it. Then they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.

God’s Covenant with David^(A)

17 Now ^(B)it came to pass, when David was dwelling in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, “See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under tent curtains.”

² Then Nathan said to David, “Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you.”

³ But it happened that night that the word of God came to Nathan, saying, ⁴ “Go and tell My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord: “You shall ^(C)not build Me a house to dwell in. ⁵ For I have not dwelt in a house since the time that I brought up Israel, even to this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.

³ And David ^(A)gathered all Israel together at Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the Lord to its place, which he had prepared for it.

^46 (A)who found favor before God and ^(B)asked to find a dwelling for the God of Jacob.

²⁴ And the king said, “Let him return to his own house, but ^(A)do not let him see my face.” So Absalom returned to his own house, but did not see the king’s face.

⁷ And David sent home to Tamar, saying, “Now go to your brother Amnon’s house, and prepare food for him.” ⁸ So Tamar went to her brother Amnon’s house; and he was lying down. Then she took flour and kneaded it, made cakes in his sight, and baked the cakes.

⁹ Then David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it ^(A)the City of David. And David built all around from ^[a]the Millo and inward.
