³⁹ They feasted and drank with David for three days, for preparations had been made by their relatives for their arrival.

⁴² The men of Judah replied, “The king is one of our own kinsmen. Why should this make you angry? We haven’t eaten any of the king’s food or received any special favors!”

¹⁹ Then he gave to every Israelite man and woman in the crowd a loaf of bread, a cake of dates,^[a] and a cake of raisins. Then all the people returned to their homes.

⁵⁴ Then Jacob offered a sacrifice to God there on the mountain and invited everyone to a covenant feast. After they had eaten, they spent the night on the mountain.

³⁰ So Isaac prepared a covenant feast to celebrate the treaty, and they ate and drank together.
