³⁹ And they were there with David for three days, eating and drinking, for their brothers had made preparation for them.

⁴² All the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, “Because the king is ^(A)our close relative. Why then are you angry over this matter? Have we eaten at all at the king's expense? Or has he given us any gift?”

¹⁹ and distributed among all the people, the whole multitude of Israel, both men and women, a cake of bread, a portion of meat,^[a] and a cake of raisins to each one. ^(A)Then all the people departed, each to his house.

⁵⁴ and Jacob offered a sacrifice in the hill country and called ^(A)his kinsmen to eat bread. They ate bread and spent the night in the hill country.

³⁰ So he made them a feast, and they ate and drank.
