¹⁸ Then the Spirit ^[a]came upon ^(A)Amasai, chief of the captains, and he said:

So David received them, and made them captains of the troop.

³⁴ But ^(A)the Spirit of the Lord came upon Gideon; then he ^(B)blew the trumpet, and the Abiezrites gathered behind him.

⁶⁷ Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”

⁶⁸ But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have ^(A)the words of eternal life.

²⁵ And Absalom made ^(A)Amasa captain of the army instead of Joab. This Amasa was the son of a man whose name was ^[a]Jithra, an ^[b]Israelite, who had gone in to ^(B)Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister of Zeruiah, Joab’s mother.

^10 (A)The Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel. He went out to war, and the Lord delivered Cushan-Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed over Cushan-Rishathaim.

²³ Peace to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. ²⁴ Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.

Blessing and a Plea

¹⁶ And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.

³⁰ He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.

¹⁷ Abigail bore Amasa; and the father of Amasa was ^[a]Jether the Ishmaelite.

⁵ And he who was in charge of the house, and he who was in charge of the city, the elders also, and those who reared the sons, sent to Jehu, saying, “We are your servants, we will do all you tell us; but we will not make anyone king. Do what is good in your sight.”
