பெலிஸ்தர்களோடு தாவீது வாழ்கிறான்
27 தாவீது தனக்குள், “என்றாவது சவுல் என்னைப் பிடித்துக் கொல்லுவான். எனவே பெலிஸ்தரின் நாட்டிற்குத் தப்பிச் செல்வதுதான் நான் இப்போது செய்ய வேண்டியது. பிறகு சவுல் என்னை இஸ்ரவேலில் தேடுவதை விட்டுவிடுவான். இவ்வாறுதான் இவனிடமிருந்து தப்பிக்கவேண்டும்” என்று நினைத்துக்கொண்டான்.
2 எனவே தாவீதும் அவனது 600 ஆட்களும் இஸ்ரவேலை விட்டு மாயோகின் குமாரனான ஆகீஸிடம் சென்றனர். ஆகீஸ் காத்தின் ராஜா. 3 தாவீதும் அவனது குடும்பமும், ஆட்களும் காத்தில் ஆகீஸோடு வாழ்ந்தனர். தாவீதுடன் அவனது இரு மனைவியரும் இருந்தனர். அவர்கள் யெஸ்ரேலின் அகினோவாளும், கர்மேலின் அபிகாயிலும் ஆவார்கள். அபிகாயில் நாபாலின் விதவை. 4 தாவீது காத்துக்கு ஓடிப் போனதாக ஜனங்கள் வந்து சவுலிடம் சொல்லவே, அவனும் தாவீதைத் தேடுவதை விட்டுவிட்டான்.
5 ஆகீஸிடம் தாவீது, “என்னை உங்களுக்கு பிடிக்குமானால், எனக்கு நாட்டிலுள்ள ஒரு நகரத்தில் ஓரிடத்தைக் கொடுங்கள். நான் உங்கள் வேலைக்காரன். நான் அங்கே வாழ்வேன். உங்களோடு இத்தலைநகரத்தில் வாழமாட்டேன்” என்றான். 6 அன்றைய தினம் ஆகீஸ் தாவீதிற்கு சிக்லாக் நகரத்தைக் கொடுத்தான். அன்று முதல் அந்நகரம் யூதாவின் ராஜாக்களுக்கு உரியதாய் இருந்தது. 7 அங்கே தாவீது பெலிஸ்தர்களோடு ஓராண்டும் நான்கு மாதமும் வாழ்ந்தான்.
ராஜாவாகிய ஆகீஸை தாவீது ஏமாற்றுகிறான்
8 தாவீதும் அவனது ஆட்களும் கெசூரியர், கெர்சியர் மற்றும் அமலேக்கியர் ஆகியோர்க்கு எதிராக படையெடுத்தனர். பழங்காலம் முதல் இவர்கள் தேலீம் அருகிலுள்ள சூர் முதல் எகிப்துவரை பரந்துள்ள நாட்டில் வாழ்ந்தனர். அவர்களைத் தோற்கடித்து செல்வங்களை அபகரித்தான். 9 தாவீது அப்பகுதியில் உள்ளவர்களையெல்லாம் தோற்கடித்தான். அவர்களின் ஆடுகள், மாடுகள், கழுதைகள், ஒட்டகங்கள், ஆடைகள் போன்றவற்றைப் பறித்து ஆகீஸிடம் கொண்டு வந்தான். யாரையும் அவன் உயிரோடு விடவில்லை.
10 தாவீது இவ்வாறு பலமுறைச் செய்தான். ஆகீஸ் அவனிடம், “யாரோடு எங்கே போரிட்டு இவற்றை எடுத்து வருகிறாய்?” என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு தாவீது, “நான் யூதாவின் தென்பகுதியில் சண்டையிட்டு வருகிறேன்” என்பான். அல்லது, “நான் யெராமியேலின் தென்பகுதியில் சண்டையிட்டேன்” என்பான். அல்லது “நான் கேனியருடைய தென்பகுதியில் சண்டையிட்டேன்” என்பான். 11 தாவீது காத்திலிருந்து உயிரோடு ஆண் பெண் யாரையும் ஒரு நாளும் கொண்டு வந்ததில்லை. “யாரையாவது உயிரோடு கொண்டு வந்தால் அவர்கள் உண்மையைச் சொல்லிவிடலாம்” என்று நினைத்தான்.
பெலிஸ்தர்களின் நாட்டில் இருக்கும்வரை தாவீது இப்படி செய்து வந்தான். 12 ஆகீஸும் தாவீதை நம்பினான். அவன் தனக்குள்ளே, “இப்போது தாவீதின் சொந்த ஜனங்கள் அவனை வெறுப்பார்கள். இஸ்ரவேலரும் தாவீதை மிகவும் வெறுப்பார்கள். எனவே தாவீது என்றும் எனக்கே சேவைச் செய்வான்” என்று நினைத்துக்கொண்டான்.

David Allied with the Philistines
27 And David said in his heart, “Now I shall perish someday by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape to the land of the Philistines; and Saul will [a]despair of me, to seek me anymore in any part of Israel. So I shall escape out of his hand.” 2 Then David arose (A)and went over with the six hundred men who were with him (B)to Achish the son of Maoch, king of Gath. 3 So David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, each man with his household, and David (C)with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal’s widow. 4 And it was told Saul that David had fled to Gath; so he sought him no more.
5 Then David said to Achish, “If I have now found favor in your eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country, that I may dwell there. For why should your servant dwell in the royal city with you?” 6 So Achish gave him Ziklag that day. Therefore (D)Ziklag has belonged to the kings of Judah to this day. 7 Now [b]the time that David (E)dwelt in the country of the Philistines was one full year and four months.
8 And David and his men went up and raided (F)the Geshurites, (G)the [c]Girzites, and the (H)Amalekites. For those nations were the inhabitants of the land from [d]of old, (I)as you go to Shur, even as far as the land of Egypt. 9 Whenever David [e]attacked the land, he left neither man nor woman alive, but took away the sheep, the oxen, the donkeys, the camels, and the apparel, and returned and came to Achish. 10 Then Achish would say, “Where have you made a raid today?” And David would say, “Against the southern area of Judah, or against the southern area of (J)the Jerahmeelites, or against the southern area of (K)the Kenites.” 11 David would save neither man nor woman alive, to bring news to Gath, saying, “Lest they should inform on us, saying, ‘Thus David did.’ ” And thus was his behavior all the time he dwelt in the country of the Philistines. 12 So Achish believed David, saying, “He has made his people Israel utterly abhor him; therefore he will be my servant forever.”

27 Davide anaganiza mu mtima mwake nati, “Tsiku lina ine ndidzaphedwa ndi Sauli. Palibe chabwino ndingachite, koma kuthawira ku dziko la Afilisti. Kotero Sauli adzasiya kundifunafuna mʼdziko lonse la Israeli, ndipo ndidzapulumuka.”
2 Choncho Davide ndi anthu 600 amene anali nawo anachoka napita kwa Akisi mwana wa Maoki mfumu ya ku Gati. 3 Davide anakhala ndi Akisi ku Gati pamodzi ndi ankhondo ake, aliyense ndi banja lake. Davide ali ndi akazi ake awiri, Ahinoamu wa ku Yezireeli ndi Abigayeli wa ku Karimeli, mkazi wamasiye wa Nabala. 4 Sauli anamva kuti Davide wathawira ku Gati, ndipo sanamufunefunenso.
5 Kenaka Davide anawuza Akisi kuti, “Ngati ndapeza kuyanja pamaso panu mundipatse malo dera limodzi la dziko lanu kuti ndizikhala kumeneko. Mtumiki wanu adzakhala mu mzinda waufumu chifukwa chiyani?”
6 Choncho tsiku limenelo Akisi anamupatsa Zikilagi ndipo mzindawo wakhala wa mafumu a Yuda mpaka lero. 7 Davide anakhala mʼdziko la Afilisti kwa chaka chimodzi ndi miyezi inayi.
8 Tsono Davide ndi anthu ake ankapita kukathira nkhondo Agesuri, Agirizi ndi Aamaleki. (Mitundu ya anthu imeneyi kuyambira kale inkakhala mʼdziko la pakati pa Suri ndi Igupto). 9 Davide ankati akathira nkhondo dera lina, sankasiya munthu wamoyo, mwamuna kapena mkazi, koma ankatenga nkhosa, ngʼombe, abulu, ngamira ndi zovala, pambuyo pake nʼkubwerera kwa Akisi.
10 Akisi akafunsa kuti, “Kodi lero unapita kukathira nkhondo kuti?” Davide ankayankha kuti, “Ndinapita kukathira nkhondo kummwera kwa Yuda,” mwinanso ankanena kuti, “Ndinapita ku dziko la Ayerahimeeli” kapenanso ankanena kuti, “Ndinapita ku dziko la Akeni.” 11 Davide sankasiya mwamuna kapena mkazi wamoyo kuti akafotokozere anthu a ku Gati zochitikazo kuopa kuti opulumukawo akhoza kudzanena kuti “Davide watichita zakutizakuti.” Tsono izi ndi zimene Davide ankachita pamene ankakhala mʼdziko la Afilisti. 12 Akisi ankamukhulupirira Davide ndipo ankati mu mtima mwake, “Davide wadzisandutsa munthu woyipa kwambiri pakati pa anthu ake omwe, Aisraeli. Tsono adzakhala mtumiki wanga mpaka kalekale.”

David Among the Philistines
27 But David thought to himself, “One of these days I will be destroyed by the hand of Saul. The best thing I can do is to escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will give up searching for me anywhere in Israel, and I will slip out of his hand.”
2 So David and the six hundred men(A) with him left and went(B) over to Achish(C) son of Maok king of Gath. 3 David and his men settled in Gath with Achish. Each man had his family with him, and David had his two wives:(D) Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail of Carmel, the widow of Nabal. 4 When Saul was told that David had fled to Gath, he no longer searched for him.
5 Then David said to Achish, “If I have found favor in your eyes, let a place be assigned to me in one of the country towns, that I may live there. Why should your servant live in the royal city with you?”
6 So on that day Achish gave him Ziklag,(E) and it has belonged to the kings of Judah ever since. 7 David lived(F) in Philistine territory a year and four months.
8 Now David and his men went up and raided the Geshurites,(G) the Girzites and the Amalekites.(H) (From ancient times these peoples had lived in the land extending to Shur(I) and Egypt.) 9 Whenever David attacked an area, he did not leave a man or woman alive,(J) but took sheep and cattle, donkeys and camels, and clothes. Then he returned to Achish.
10 When Achish asked, “Where did you go raiding today?” David would say, “Against the Negev of Judah” or “Against the Negev of Jerahmeel(K)” or “Against the Negev of the Kenites.(L)” 11 He did not leave a man or woman alive to be brought to Gath, for he thought, “They might inform on us and say, ‘This is what David did.’” And such was his practice as long as he lived in Philistine territory. 12 Achish trusted David and said to himself, “He has become so obnoxious(M) to his people, the Israelites, that he will be my servant for life.(N)”
