Гибель Шаула и его сыновей(A)
31 Филистимляне воевали с Исраилом, и исраильтяне бежали от них и падали сражёнными на горе Гильбоа. 2 Филистимляне нагнали Шаула и его сыновей и убили Ионафана, Авинадава и Малик-Шуа. 3 Вокруг Шаула разгорелась жестокая битва. Лучники нашли его и тяжело ранили.
4 Шаул сказал своему оруженосцу:
– Обнажи свой меч и заколи меня, иначе эти необрезанные придут, станут глумиться надо мной и убьют меня.
Но оруженосец не решился сделать это, потому что очень испугался. Тогда Шаул взял свой собственный меч и бросился на него. 5 Когда оруженосец увидел, что Шаул мёртв, он тоже бросился на свой меч и умер вместе с ним. 6 Так Шаул, три его сына, оруженосец и все его люди погибли в тот день.
7 Увидев, что исраильское войско разбежалось, а Шаул и его сыновья погибли, исраильтяне, которые жили на другой стороне долины и за Иорданом, оставили свои города и тоже бежали. А филистимляне пришли и заняли их.
8 На следующий день, когда филистимляне пришли грабить мёртвых, они нашли Шаула и трёх его сыновей, павших на горе Гильбоа. 9 Они отсекли ему голову, сняли с него оружие и послали вестников по всей филистимской земле, чтобы возвестить об этом в капище своих идолов и народу. 10 Они положили его оружие в храме Астарты и повесили его тело на стене Бет-Шеана.
11 Когда жители Иавеша Галаадского услышали о том, что филистимляне сделали с Шаулом, 12 то все их храбрые воины отправились в путь, шли всю ночь и, придя в Бет-Шеан, сняли тела Шаула и его сыновей со стены. Они пришли в Иавеш и сожгли их там. 13 Потом они взяли их кости, похоронили под тамариском в Иавеше и постились семь дней.

31 Och filistéerna stridde mot Israel; och Israels män flydde för filistéerna och föllo slagna på berget Gilboa.
2 Och filistéerna ansatte ivrigt Saul och hans söner. Och filistéerna dödade Jonatan, Abinadab och Malki-Sua, Sauls söner.
3 När då Saul själv blev häftigt anfallen och bågskyttarna kommo över honom, greps han av stor förskräckelse för skyttarna.
4 Och Saul sade till sin vapendragare: »Drag ut ditt svärd och genomborra mig därmed, så att icke dessa oomskurna komma och genomborra mig och hantera mig skändligt.» Men hans vapendragare ville det icke, ty han fruktade storligen. Då tog Saul själv svärdet och störtade sig därpå.
5 Men när vapendragaren såg att Saul var död, störtade han sig ock på sitt svärd och följde honom i döden.
6 Så dogo då med varandra på den dagen Saul och hans tre söner och hans vapendragare, och därjämte alla hans män.
7 Och när israeliterna på andra sidan dalen och på andra sidan Jordan förnummo att Israels män hade flytt, och att Saul och hans söner voro döda, övergåvo de städerna och flydde; sedan kommo filistéerna och bosatte sig i dem.
8 Dagen därefter kommo filistéerna för att plundra de slagna och funno då Saul och hans tre söner, där de lågo fallna på berget Gilboa.
9 Då höggo de av hans huvud och drogo av honom hans vapen och sände dem omkring i filistéernas land och läto förkunna det glada budskapet i sitt avgudahus och bland folket.
10 Och de lade hans vapen i Astartetemplet, men hans kropp hängde de upp på Bet-Sans mur.
11 Men när invånarna i Jabes i Gilead hörde vad filistéerna hade gjort med Saul,
12 stodo de upp, alla stridbara män, och gingo hela natten och togo Sauls och hans söners kroppar ned från Bet-Sans mur, och begåvo sig därefter till Jabes och förbrände dem där.
13 Sedan togo de deras ben och begrovo dem under tamarisken i Jabes och fastade så i sju dagar.

31 Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.
2 And the Philistines followed hard upon Saul and upon his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Melchishua, Saul's sons.
3 And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him; and he was sore wounded of the archers.
4 Then said Saul unto his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.
5 And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise upon his sword, and died with him.
6 So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armourbearer, and all his men, that same day together.
7 And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they that were on the other side Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
8 And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen in mount Gilboa.
9 And they cut off his head, and stripped off his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to publish it in the house of their idols, and among the people.
10 And they put his armour in the house of Ashtaroth: and they fastened his body to the wall of Bethshan.
11 And when the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead heard of that which the Philistines had done to Saul;
12 All the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Bethshan, and came to Jabesh, and burnt them there.
13 And they took their bones, and buried them under a tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
