4 Впрочем, братя, молим и увещаваме ви в Господа Исуса, щото, както сте научили от нас, как трябва да се обхождате и да угождавате на Бога, (както и се обхождате), така да преуспявате повече и повече,
2 Защото знаете, какви поръчки ви дадохме от името на Господа Исуса.
3 Понеже това е Божията воля 4 Да знае всеки от вас, как да държи своя съсед със святост и почест.
5 не в страстна похот, както и езичниците, които не знаят Бога;
6 и да не престъпва никой, та да поврежда брата си в това нещо; защото за всичко това Бог е мъздовъздател, както ви от по напред явихме и уговорихме.
7 Защото Бог не ни е призовал на нечистотата, а на светост.
8 Затуй, който отхвърля това, не отхвърля човека, но Бога. Който ви дава Светият Си Дух.
9 А за братолюбието няма нужда да ви пиша; защото сами вие ще сте научени от Бога да се любите един друг;
10 понеже и правите това на всички братя по цяла Македония. Но молим ви се братя, да преуспеете в това повече и повече
11 и усърдно да се стараете да живеете тихо, да вършите своите работи и да работите с ръцете си, както ви заръчахме;
12 за да се обхождате благоприлично пред външните и да нямате нужда от нищо.
13 А не желаем, братя, да останете в неизвестност за ония, които умират, за да не скърбите както другите, които нямат надежда.
14 Защото, ако вярваме, че Исус умря и възкръсна, така и починалите в Исуса Бог ще приведе заедно със Него.
15 Защото това ви казваме чрез Господното слово, че ние, които останем живи до Господното пришествие, няма да предварим починалите.
16 Понеже сам Господ ще слезе от небето с повелителен вик, при глас на арахангел и при Божия тръба; и мъртвите в Христа ще въскръснат по-напред;
17 после ние, които сме останали живи, ще бъдем грабнати заедно с тях в облаците да посрещнем Господа във въздуха; и така ще бъдем всякога с Господа.
18 И тъй, насърчавайте се един друг с тия думи.

La vida que agrada a Dios
4 Por lo demás, hermanos, os pedimos encarecidamente en el nombre del Señor Jesús que sigáis progresando en el modo de vivir que agrada a Dios, tal como lo aprendisteis de nosotros. De hecho, ya lo estáis practicando. 2 Vosotros sabéis cuáles son las instrucciones que os dimos de parte del Señor Jesús.
3 La voluntad de Dios es que seáis santificados; que os apartéis de la inmoralidad sexual; 4 que cada uno aprenda a controlar su propio cuerpo[a] de una manera santa y honrosa, 5 sin dejaros llevar por los malos deseos como hacen los paganos, que no conocen a Dios; 6 y que nadie perjudique a su hermano ni se aproveche de él en este asunto. El Señor castiga todo esto, como ya os hemos dicho y advertido. 7 Dios no nos llamó a la impureza, sino a la santidad; 8 por tanto, el que rechaza estas instrucciones no rechaza a un hombre, sino a Dios, quien os da su Espíritu Santo.
9 En cuanto al amor fraternal, no necesitáis que os escribamos, porque Dios mismo os ha enseñado a amaros unos a otros. 10 En efecto, vosotros amáis a todos los hermanos que viven en Macedonia. No obstante, hermanos, os animamos a amaros aún más, 11 a procurar vivir en paz con todos, a ocuparos en vuestras propias responsabilidades y a trabajar con vuestras propias manos. Así os he mandado, 12 para que por vuestro modo de vivir os ganéis el respeto de los que no son creyentes, y no tengáis que depender de nadie.
La venida del Señor
13 Hermanos, no queremos que ignoréis lo que va a pasar con los que ya han muerto,[b] para que no os entristezcáis como esos otros que no tienen esperanza. 14 ¿Acaso no creemos que Jesús murió y resucitó? Así también Dios resucitará con Jesús a los que han muerto en unión con él. 15 Conforme a lo dicho por el Señor, afirmamos que nosotros, los que estemos vivos y hayamos quedado hasta la venida del Señor, de ninguna manera nos adelantaremos a los que hayan muerto. 16 El Señor mismo descenderá del cielo con voz de mando, con voz de arcángel y con trompeta de Dios, y los muertos en Cristo resucitarán primero. 17 Luego los que estemos vivos, los que hayamos quedado, seremos arrebatados junto con ellos en las nubes para encontrarnos con el Señor en el aire. Y así estaremos con el Señor para siempre. 18 Por lo tanto, animaos unos a otros con estas palabras.

Living to Please God
4 As for other matters, brothers and sisters,(A) we instructed you how to live(B) in order to please God,(C) as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. 2 For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.
3 It is God’s will(D) that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;(E) 4 that each of you should learn to control your own body[a](F) in a way that is holy and honorable, 5 not in passionate lust(G) like the pagans,(H) who do not know God;(I) 6 and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister.[b](J) The Lord will punish(K) all those who commit such sins,(L) as we told you and warned you before. 7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.(M) 8 Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.(N)
9 Now about your love for one another(O) we do not need to write to you,(P) for you yourselves have been taught by God(Q) to love each other.(R) 10 And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia.(S) Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more,(T) 11 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands,(U) just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders(V) and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
Believers Who Have Died
13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed(W) about those who sleep in death,(X) so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.(Y) 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again,(Z) and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.(AA) 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord,(AB) will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.(AC) 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven,(AD) with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel(AE) and with the trumpet call of God,(AF) and the dead in Christ will rise first.(AG) 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left(AH) will be caught up together with them in the clouds(AI) to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord(AJ) forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another(AK) with these words.
