12 Сега за духовните дарби, братя и сестри — не искам да останете в неведение. Знаете, че когато бяхте езичници, ви отклоняваха и служехте на неми идоли. Затова искам да ви осведомя, че никой, който говори чрез Божия Дух, няма да каже: „Проклет да е Исус!“ И само чрез Святия Дух човек може да каже: „Исус е Господ!“

Има различни духовни дарби, но Духът, който дава тези дарби, е един и същ. Има различни начини да се служи, но всички те са от един и същ Господ. И има различни начини, по които Бог действа, но един и същ Бог върши всичко сред всички хора. На всеки е дадено да се прояви у него Духът за всеобщо благо. На един чрез Духа е дадена способността да говори с мъдрост, а на друг, чрез същия Дух — способността да говори със знание. На един е дадена вяра чрез същия Дух, а на друг, също чрез него — дарби да лекува. 10 На някого е дадена силата да върши чудеса, а на друг — да пророкува. На един е дадена способността да различава добрите от лошите духове, на друг — да говори различни езици, а на трети — да обяснява езиците. 11 Но един и същ е Духът, който върши всичко това и определя различно за всеки — така, както пожелае.

Христовото тяло

12 И също както човешкото тяло е едно, но има много части, които, въпреки че са много, заедно оформят едно тяло, така е и с Христос. 13 Защото всички бяхме кръстени от действието на един Дух, за да станем част от едно тяло, независимо дали сме юдеи или езичници, роби или свободни, и от този един Дух всички бяхме напоени.

14 Човешкото тяло не се състои от една, а от много части. 15 И ако кракът каже: „Аз не принадлежа на тялото, защото не съм ръка“, нима това е причина той да престане да е част от тялото? 16 И ако ухото каже: „Аз не принадлежа на тялото, защото не съм око“, нима това е причина то да престане да бъде част от тялото? 17 Ако цялото тяло беше око, как щяхме да чуваме? И ако цялото тяло беше ухо, как щяхме да усещаме ароматите? 18 Но всъщност Бог е поставил всяка една част в тялото така, както той е пожелал, и е определил мястото на всяка от тях. 19 И ако всички те бяха само една част, къде щеше да е тялото? 20 Сега частите са много, а тялото е само едно.

21 Окото не може да каже на ръката: „Нямам нужда от теб.“ И главата не може да каже на краката: „Нямам нужда от вас.“ 22 Точно обратното — частите на тялото, които изглеждат слаби, са най-необходими. 23 И към частите, които зачитаме по-малко, ние се отнасяме с по-голямо уважение. И към тези части, които не са представителни, се отнасяме със специално внимание, 24 защото нашите по-представителни части нямат нужда от такова отношение. The Use of Spiritual Gifts

12 Now concerning (A)spiritual gifts, brothers and sisters, (B)I do not want you to be unaware. (C)You know that when you were [a]pagans, you were (D)led [b]astray to the (E)mute idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking [c](F)by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is [d](G)accursed”; and no one can say, “Jesus is (H)Lord,” except [e](I)by the Holy Spirit.

Now there are (J)varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same (K)God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit (L)for the common good. For to one is given the word of (M)wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of (N)knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another (O)faith [f]by the same Spirit, and to another (P)gifts of [g]healing [h]by the one Spirit, 10 and to another the [i]effecting of [j](Q)miracles, and to another (R)prophecy, and to another the [k](S)distinguishing of spirits, to another various (T)kinds of tongues, and to another the (U)interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, (V)distributing to each one individually just as He [l]wills.

12 For just (W)as the body is one and yet has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though they are many, are one body, (X)so also is Christ. 13 For [m](Y)by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether (Z)Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to (AA)drink of one Spirit.

14 For (AB)the body is not one part, but many. 15 If the foot says, “Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason [n]any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason [o]any less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But now God has (AC)arranged the parts, each one of them in the body, (AD)just as He desired. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 But now (AE)there are many parts, but one body. 21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; or again, the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 On the contrary, [p]it is much truer that the parts of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary; 23 and those parts of the body which we [q]consider less honorable, [r]on these we bestow greater honor, and our less presentable parts become much more presentable, 24 whereas our more presentable parts have no need of it. But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that part which lacked, 25 so that there may be no [s]division in the body, but that the parts may have the same care for one another. 26 And if one part of the body suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if a part is [t]honored, all the parts rejoice with it.

27 Now you are (AF)Christ’s body, and (AG)individually parts of it. 28 And God has [u](AH)appointed in (AI)the church, first (AJ)apostles, second (AK)prophets, third (AL)teachers, then [v](AM)miracles, then (AN)gifts of healings, helps, (AO)administrations, and various (AP)kinds of tongues. 29 All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of [w]miracles, are they? 30 All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not (AQ)interpret, do they? 31 But (AR)earnestly desire the greater gifts.

And yet, I am going to show you a far better way.

Spiritual Gifts

12 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be uninformed.[a] You know that when you were heathen, you were led astray to dumb idols, however you may have been moved. Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking by the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus be cursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except by the Holy Spirit.

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of working, but it is the same God who inspires them all in every one. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are inspired by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.

One Body with Many Members

12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.

14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many. 15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? 18 But as it is, God arranged the organs in the body, each one of them, as he chose. 19 If all were a single organ, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, yet one body. 21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 On the contrary, the parts of the body which seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and those parts of the body which we think less honorable we invest with the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24 which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so adjusted the body, giving the greater honor to the inferior part, 25 that there may be no discord in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.

27 Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. 28 And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, then healers, helpers, administrators, speakers in various kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? 31 But earnestly desire the higher gifts.

And I will show you a still more excellent way.[b]
