3 If anyone (A)advocates a different doctrine and does not [a]agree with (B)sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine (C)conforming to godliness, 4 he is (D)conceited and understands nothing; but he [b]has a sick craving for (E)controversial questions and (F)disputes about words, from which come envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, 5 and constant friction between (G)people of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who (H)suppose that [c]godliness is a means of gain.

3 If anyone teaches otherwise(A) and does not agree to the sound instruction(B) of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, 4 they are conceited(C) and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words(D) that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5 and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth(E) and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
