1 Samuel 15:22-23
New American Standard Bible
22 Samuel said,
“(A)Does the Lord have as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
As in obeying the voice of the Lord?
Behold, (B)to obey is better than a sacrifice,
And to pay attention is better than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is as reprehensible as the sin of (C)divination,
And insubordination is as reprehensible as (D)false religion and idolatry.
Since you have rejected the word of the Lord,
(E)He has also rejected you from being king.”
1 Samuel 16:7
New American Standard Bible
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for [a]God does not see as man sees, since man looks at [b]the outward appearance, (A)but the Lord looks at the heart.”
