4 he is conceited and understands nothing, but has an unhealthy interest in disputes and arguments over words.(A) From these come envy,(B) quarreling,(C) slander,(D) evil suspicions, 5 and constant disagreement among people whose minds are depraved and deprived of the truth, who imagine that godliness is a way to material gain.[a](E) 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.(F)

They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words(B) that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5 and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth(C) and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.
