The Good Fight of Faith
11 But as for you, man of God, shun all this; pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and for which you made[a] the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.(A) 13 In the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you(B) 14 to keep the commandment without spot or blame until the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ,(C) 15 which he will bring about at the right time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords.(D) 16 It is he alone who has immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see; to him be honor and eternal dominion. Running Hard
11-12 But you, Timothy, man of God: Run for your life from all this. Pursue a righteous life—a life of wonder, faith, love, steadiness, courtesy. Run hard and fast in the faith. Seize the eternal life, the life you were called to, the life you so fervently embraced in the presence of so many witnesses.
13-16 I’m charging you before the life-giving God and before Christ, who took his stand before Pontius Pilate and didn’t give an inch: Keep this command to the letter, and don’t slack off. Our Master, Jesus Christ, is on his way. He’ll show up right on time, his arrival guaranteed by the Blessed and Undisputed Ruler, High King, High God. He’s the only one death can’t touch, his light so bright no one can get close. He’s never been seen by human eyes—human eyes can’t take him in! Honor to him, and eternal rule! Oh, yes.

Take hold of(E) the eternal life(F) to which you were called when you made your good confession(G) in the presence of many witnesses. 13 In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate(H) made the good confession,(I) I charge you(J) 14 to keep this command without spot or blame(K) until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,(L) 15 which God will bring about in his own time(M)—God, the blessed(N) and only Ruler,(O) the King of kings and Lord of lords,(P) 16 who alone is immortal(Q) and who lives in unapproachable light,(R) whom no one has seen or can see.(S) To him be honor and might forever.
