4 But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety at home and (A)to repay their parents; for this is [a]good and acceptable before God. 5 Now she who is really a widow, and left alone, trusts in God and continues in supplications and prayers (B)night and day. 6 But she who lives in [b]pleasure is dead while she lives.

4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents,(A) for this is pleasing to God.(B) 5 The widow who is really in need(C) and left all alone puts her hope in God(D) and continues night and day to pray(E) and to ask God for help. 6 But the widow who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives.(F)
