5 The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart(A) and a good conscience(B) and a sincere faith.(C) 6 Some have departed from these and have turned to meaningless talk. 7 They want to be teachers(D) of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.(E)
8 We know that the law is good(F) if one uses it properly. 9 We also know that the law is made not for the righteous(G) but for lawbreakers and rebels,(H) the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine(I) 11 that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.(J)

8 But we know that (H)the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, 9 realizing the fact that (I)law is not made for a righteous person but for those who are lawless and (J)rebellious, for the (K)ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and (L)worldly, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the [b](M)sexually immoral, (N)homosexuals, [c](O)slave traders, (P)liars, (Q)perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to (R)sound teaching, 11 according to (S)the glorious gospel of (T)the blessed God, with which I have been (U)entrusted.

11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

5 You must teach people to have genuine love, as well as a good conscience and true faith. 6 There are some who have given up these for nothing but empty talk. 7 They want to be teachers of the Law of Moses. But they don't know what they are talking about, even though they think they do.
8 We know the Law is good, if it is used in the right way. 9 We also understand it wasn't given to control people who please God, but to control lawbreakers, criminals, godless people, and sinners. It is for wicked and evil people, and for murderers, who would even kill their own parents. 10 The Law was written for people who are sexual perverts or who live as homosexuals or are kidnappers or liars or won't tell the truth in court. It is for anything else that opposes the correct teaching 11 of the good news the glorious and wonderful God has given me.
