15 The saying is (A)trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus (B)came into the world to save sinners, (C)of whom I am the foremost. 16 But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. 17 To (D)the King of the ages, (E)immortal, (F)invisible, (G)the only God, (H)be honor and glory forever and ever.[a] Amen.

18 This charge (I)I entrust to you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with (J)the prophecies previously made about you, that by them you may (K)wage the good warfare, 19 (L)holding faith and a good conscience. By rejecting this, some have (M)made shipwreck of their faith, 20 among whom are (N)Hymenaeus and (O)Alexander, whom I (P)have handed over to Satan that they may learn not to (Q)blaspheme.

Pray for All People

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, (R)for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and (S)dignified in every way. This is good, and (T)it is pleasing in the sight of (U)God our Savior, who desires (V)all people to be saved and (W)to come to (X)the knowledge of the truth. For (Y)there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man[b] Christ Jesus, (Z)who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is (AA)the testimony given (AB)at the proper time.

15 Here is a trustworthy saying(A) that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners(B)—of whom I am the worst. 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy(C) so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience(D) as an example for those who would believe(E) in him and receive eternal life.(F) 17 Now to the King(G) eternal, immortal,(H) invisible,(I) the only God,(J) be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.(K)

The Charge to Timothy Renewed

18 Timothy, my son,(L) I am giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies once made about you,(M) so that by recalling them you may fight the battle well,(N) 19 holding on to faith and a good conscience,(O) which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.(P) 20 Among them are Hymenaeus(Q) and Alexander,(R) whom I have handed over to Satan(S) to be taught not to blaspheme.
