13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters,[a] about those who have died,[b] so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died.[c] 15 For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will by no means precede those who have died.[d] 16 For the Lord himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call and with the sound of God’s trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will be with the Lord forever.

13 Ich will euch aber, Brüder, nicht in Unwissenheit lassen über die Entschlafenen, damit ihr nicht traurig seid wie die anderen, die keine Hoffnung haben.
14 Denn wenn wir glauben, dass Jesus gestorben und auferstanden ist, so wird Gott auch die Entschlafenen durch Jesus mit ihm führen.
15 Denn das sagen wir euch in einem Wort des Herrn: Wir, die wir leben und bis zur Wiederkunft des Herrn übrig bleiben, werden den Entschlafenen nicht zuvorkommen;
16 denn der Herr selbst wird, wenn der Befehl ergeht und die Stimme des Erzengels und die Posaune Gottes erschallt, vom Himmel herabkommen, und die Toten in Christus werden zuerst auferstehen.

47 The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is[a] from heaven. 48 As was the man of dust, so are those who are of the dust; and as is the man of heaven, so are those who are of heaven. 49 Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we will[b] also bear the image of the man of heaven.
50 What I am saying, brothers and sisters,[c] is this: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Listen, I will tell you a mystery! We will not all die,[d] but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For this perishable body must put on imperishability, and this mortal body must put on immortality. 54 When this perishable body puts on imperishability, and this mortal body puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will be fulfilled:
“Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
55 “Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

54 Wenn aber dieses Verwesliche Unverweslichkeit anziehen und dieses Sterbliche Unsterblichkeit anziehen wird, dann wird das Wort erfüllt werden, das geschrieben steht: »Der Tod ist verschlungen in Sieg!
55 Tod, wo ist dein Stachel? Totenreich, wo ist dein Sieg?«[a]
56 Der Stachel des Todes aber ist die Sünde, die Kraft der Sünde aber ist das Gesetz.

50 Ce que je dis, frères et sœurs, c’est que notre corps de chair et de sang ne peut accéder au royaume de Dieu : ce qui est corruptible ne peut avoir part à l’incorruptibilité.
51 Voici, je vais vous révéler un mystère : nous ne passerons pas tous par la mort, mais nous serons tous transformés, 52 en un instant, en un clin d’œil, au son de la trompette dernière. Car, lorsque cette trompette retentira, les morts ressusciteront pour être désormais incorruptibles, tandis que nous, nous serons changés. 53 En effet, ce corps corruptible doit se revêtir d’incorruptibilité et ce corps mortel doit se revêtir d’immortalité.
54 Lorsque ce corps corruptible aura revêtu l’incorruptibilité et que ce corps mortel aura revêtu l’immortalité, alors se trouvera réalisée cette parole de l’Ecriture :
La victoire totale sur la mort |a été remportée[b].
55 O mort, qu’est devenue ta victoire ?
O mort, où est ton dard[c] ?

47 The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is[a] from heaven. 48 As was the man of dust, so are those who are of the dust; and as is the man of heaven, so are those who are of heaven. 49 Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we will[b] also bear the image of the man of heaven.
50 What I am saying, brothers and sisters,[c] is this: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Listen, I will tell you a mystery! We will not all die,[d] but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For this perishable body must put on imperishability, and this mortal body must put on immortality. 54 When this perishable body puts on imperishability, and this mortal body puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will be fulfilled:
“Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
55 “Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

50 Ora io dico questo, fratelli, che carne e sangue non possono ereditare il regno di Dio; né i corpi che si decompongono possono ereditare[a] l’incorruttibilità.
51 Ecco, io vi dico un mistero: non tutti morremo[b], ma tutti saremo trasformati, 52 in un momento, in un batter d’occhio, al suono dell’ultima tromba. Perché la tromba squillerà, e i morti risusciteranno incorruttibili, e noi saremo trasformati. 53 Infatti bisogna che questo corruttibile rivesta incorruttibilità e che questo mortale rivesta immortalità.
54 Quando poi questo corruttibile avrà rivestito incorruttibilità e questo mortale avrà rivestito immortalità, allora sarà adempiuta la parola che è scritta:
«La morte è stata sommersa nella vittoria»[c].
55 «O morte, dov’è la tua vittoria? O morte, dov’è il tuo dardo?»[d]

51 Siehe, ich sage euch ein Geheimnis: Wir werden zwar nicht alle entschlafen, wir werden aber alle verwandelt werden,
52 plötzlich, in einem Augenblick, zur Zeit der letzten Posaune; denn die Posaune wird erschallen, und die Toten werden auferweckt werden unverweslich, und wir werden verwandelt werden.
53 Denn dieses Verwesliche muss Unverweslichkeit anziehen, und dieses Sterbliche muss Unsterblichkeit anziehen.
54 Wenn aber dieses Verwesliche Unverweslichkeit anziehen und dieses Sterbliche Unsterblichkeit anziehen wird, dann wird das Wort erfüllt werden, das geschrieben steht: »Der Tod ist verschlungen in Sieg!
55 Tod, wo ist dein Stachel? Totenreich, wo ist dein Sieg?«[a]
56 Der Stachel des Todes aber ist die Sünde, die Kraft der Sünde aber ist das Gesetz.

51 Voici, je vais vous révéler un mystère : nous ne passerons pas tous par la mort, mais nous serons tous transformés, 52 en un instant, en un clin d’œil, au son de la trompette dernière.
