5 And David’s two (A)wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite, had been taken captive. 6 Now David was greatly distressed, for (B)the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was [a]grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. (C)But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
7 (D)Then David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, “Please bring the ephod here to me.” And (E)Abiathar brought the ephod to David.

5 David’s two wives(A) had been captured—Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal of Carmel. 6 David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning(B) him; each one was bitter(C) in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength(D) in the Lord his God.
