5 David's (A)two wives also had been taken captive, Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail the widow of Nabal of Carmel. 6 And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke (B)of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul,[a] each for his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
7 (C)And David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, “Bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought the ephod to David.

5 David’s two wives(A) had been captured—Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal of Carmel. 6 David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning(B) him; each one was bitter(C) in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength(D) in the Lord his God.
