⁸ Now David and his men went up and attacked ^(A)the Geshurites, the Girzites, and ^(B)the Amalekites; for they were the inhabitants of the land from ancient times, as you come to ^(C)Shur even as far as the land of Egypt. ⁹ David ^[a]attacked the land and did not leave a man or a woman alive, and he ^(D)took the sheep, the cattle, the donkeys, the camels, and the clothing. 30 Then it happened, when David and his men came to ^(A)Ziklag on the third day, that ^(B)the Amalekites had carried out an attack on the ^[a]Negev and on ^(C)Ziklag, and had ^[b]overthrown Ziklag and burned it with fire;
