24 No, my sons; for the report is not good (A)which I hear [a]the Lord’s people circulating. 25 If one man sins against another, (B)God will mediate for him; but (C)if a man sins against the Lord, who can intercede for him?” But they would not listen to the voice of their father, for the (D)Lord desired to put them to death.
26 Now the boy (E)Samuel [b]was growing in stature and in favor both with the Lord and with men.

24 No, my sons; the report I hear spreading among the Lord’s people is not good. 25 If one person sins against another, God[a] may mediate for the offender; but if anyone sins against the Lord, who will(A) intercede(B) for them?” His sons, however, did not listen to their father’s rebuke, for it was the Lord’s will to put them to death.
26 And the boy Samuel continued to grow(C) in stature and in favor with the Lord and with people.(D)
