8 Then Saul was very angry, and the saying (A)displeased him; and he said, “They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed only thousands. Now what more can he have but (B)the kingdom?” 9 So Saul [a]eyed David from that day forward.

8 Saul was very angry; this refrain displeased him greatly. “They have credited David with tens of thousands,” he thought, “but me with only thousands. What more can he get but the kingdom?(A)” 9 And from that time on Saul kept a close(B) eye on David.
