37 David continued, “The Lord who delivered me from the power of[a] the lion and the power of[b] the bear will also deliver me from the power of[c] this Philistine.”

Saul told David, “Go! And may the Lord be with you.”

38 Saul put his garments on David, set a bronze helmet on his head, and put armor on him. 39 David strapped Saul’s[d] sword over his garments and tried to walk, but[e] he was not used to the armor.[f] David told Saul, “I can’t walk in these because I’m not used to them,”[g] and then took them off.

38 Then Saul dressed David in his own(D) tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. 39 David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them.

“I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off.
