²⁶ Then David spoke to the men who were standing by him, saying, “What will be done for the man who strikes down this Philistine and takes away ^(A)the reproach from Israel? For who is this ^(B)uncircumcised Philistine, that he should ^[a](C)reproach the battle lines of ^(D)the living God?”

³⁶ Your servant has struck down both the lion and the bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, since he has ^[a]reproached the battle lines of the living God.”

⁴⁵ Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, ^(A)but I come to you in the name of Yahweh of hosts, the God of the battle lines of Israel, whom you have ^[a]reproached.

²¹ And he ^[a]reproached Israel, so Jonathan the son of Shimei, David’s brother, struck him down.
