6 When they came, he looked on (A)Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord's anointed is before him.” 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, (B)“Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, (C)but the Lord looks on the heart.” 8 Then Jesse called (D)Abinadab and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, “Neither has the Lord chosen this one.” 9 Then Jesse made (E)Shammah pass by. And he said, “Neither has the Lord chosen this one.”

6 When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab(A) and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed stands here before the Lord.”
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance,(B) but the Lord looks at the heart.”(C)
8 Then Jesse called Abinadab(D) and had him pass in front of Samuel. But Samuel said, “The Lord has not chosen this one either.” 9 Jesse then had Shammah(E) pass by, but Samuel said, “Nor has the Lord chosen this one.”
