18 Then answered one of his servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a [a]son of Jesse, a Bethlehemite, that can play, and is strong, valiant, and a man of war, and wise in matters, and a comely person, and the Lord is with him.
19 ¶ Wherefore Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, and said, Send me David thy son, which is with the sheep.
20 And Jesse took an ass laden with bread and a flagon of wine and a kid, and sent them by the hand of David his son unto Saul.

New International Version
18 One of the servants answered, “I have seen a son of Jesse(A) of Bethlehem who knows how to play the lyre. He is a brave man and a warrior.(B) He speaks well and is a fine-looking man. And the Lord is with(C) him.”
19 Then Saul sent messengers to Jesse and said, “Send me your son David, who is with the sheep.(D)” 20 So Jesse took a donkey loaded with bread,(E) a skin of wine and a young goat and sent them with his son David to Saul.
