27 As Samuel turned around to go away, Saul grabbed the skirt of his robe, and it tore. 28 Samuel said to him, “Yahweh has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today, and has given it to a neighbor of yours who is better than you. 29 Also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent; for he is not a man, that he should repent.”

27 As Samuel turned to leave, Saul caught hold of the hem of his robe,(A) and it tore.(B) 28 Samuel said to him, “The Lord has torn(C) the kingdom(D) of Israel from you today and has given it to one of your neighbors—to one better than you.(E) 29 He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie(F) or change(G) his mind; for he is not a human being, that he should change his mind.”
