27 As Samuel turned to leave, Saul grabbed the edge of his robe, and it tore. 28 Samuel said to him, “The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel away from you today, and he has given it to a neighbor of yours who is better than you. 29 The Splendor of Israel will not lie or change his mind, because he is not a man, who changes his mind.”

27 As Samuel turned to leave, Saul caught hold of the hem of his robe,(A) and it tore.(B) 28 Samuel said to him, “The Lord has torn(C) the kingdom(D) of Israel from you today and has given it to one of your neighbors—to one better than you.(E) 29 He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie(F) or change(G) his mind; for he is not a human being, that he should change his mind.”
