Saul among Prophets

10 Then ^(A)Samuel took the flask of oil, poured it on his head, ^(B)kissed him and said, “Has not ^(C)the Lord anointed you a ruler over ^(D)His inheritance?

³ You shall invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and ^(A)I will show you what you shall do; and ^(B)you shall anoint for Me the one whom I ^[a]designate to you.”

David Anointed

¹² So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with ^(A)beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. And the Lord said, “^(B)Arise, anoint him; for this is he.”

³ So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David ^(A)made a covenant with them before the Lord at Hebron; then ^(B)they anointed David king over Israel.

¹⁶ and ^(A)Jehu the son of Nimshi you shall anoint king over Israel; and ^(B)Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place.

³ Then take the flask of oil and pour it on his head and say, ‘Thus says the Lord, “^(A)I have anointed you king over Israel.”’ Then open the door and flee and do not wait.”
