² And he had a choice and handsome son whose name was Saul. There was not a more handsome person than he among the children of Israel. ^(A)From his shoulders upward he was taller than any of the people.

David Forgives Absalom

²⁵ Now in all Israel there was no one who was praised as much as Absalom for his good looks. ^(A)From the sole of his foot to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him. ²⁶ And when he cut the hair of his head—at the end of every year he cut it because it was heavy on him—when he cut it, he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels according to the king’s standard.

⁷ But the Lord said to Samuel, ^(A)“Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have ^[a]refused him. ^(B)For^[b] the Lord does not see as man sees; for man ^(C)looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the ^(D)heart.”

³³ There we saw the ^[a]giants (^(A)the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were ^(B)like^[b] grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were ^(C)in their sight.”

² that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they ^(A)took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.
