1 Samuel 18:12-16

New International Version

¹²Saul was afraid^(A) of David, because the Lord^(B) was with^(C) David but had departed from^(D) Saul. ¹³So he sent David away from him and gave him command over a thousand men, and David led^(E) the troops in their campaigns.^(F) ¹⁴In everything he did he had great success,^(G) because the Lord was with^(H) him. ¹⁵When Saul saw how successful he was, he was afraid of him. ¹⁶But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he led them in their campaigns.^(I)
