¹⁶ Saul replied, “He assured us that the donkeys^(A) had been found.” But he did not tell his uncle what Samuel had said about the kingship.

²⁷ As they were going down to the edge of the town, Samuel said to Saul, “Tell the servant to go on ahead of us”—and the servant did so—“but you stay here for a while, so that I may give you a message from God.”

²⁰ As for the donkeys^(A) you lost three days ago, do not worry about them; they have been found. And to whom is all the desire^(B) of Israel turned, if not to you and your whole family line?”

⁶ The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him^(A) so that he tore the lion apart^(B) with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat. But he told neither his father nor his mother what he had done.
