¹⁵ but ^(A)in your hearts honour Christ the Lord as holy, ^(B)always being prepared to make a defence to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and ^(C)respect,

7 Since we have these promises, beloved, ^(A)let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body^[a] and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.

²⁰ That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you ^(A)stand fast through faith. So ^(B)do not become proud, but ^(C)fear.
