⁶ Then he crossed over to attack the Ammonites, where he found a strong band and many people, with Timothy as their leader.^(A)

¹¹ They are preparing to come and capture the stronghold to which we have fled, and Timothy is leading their forces.

²⁰ But Maccabeus arranged his army in divisions, set men^[a] in command of the divisions, and hurried after Timothy, who had with him one hundred twenty thousand infantry and two thousand five hundred cavalry.^(A)

²¹ When Timothy learned of the approach of Judas, he sent off the women and the children and also the baggage to a place called Carnaim, for that place was hard to besiege and difficult to access because of the narrowness of all the approaches.
