8 And this house will become (A)a heap of ruins; everyone who passes by it will be appalled and [a]hiss and say, ‘(B)Why has the Lord done such a thing to this land and this house?’ 9 And they will say, ‘(C)Because they abandoned the Lord their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and they [b]adopted other gods and worshiped and served them, for that reason the Lord has brought all this adversity on them.’”

8 This temple will become a heap of rubble. All[a] who pass by will be appalled(A) and will scoff and say, ‘Why has the Lord done such a thing to this land and to this temple?’(B) 9 People will answer,(C) ‘Because they have forsaken(D) the Lord their God, who brought their ancestors out of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them—that is why the Lord brought all this disaster(E) on them.’”
