8 [a]And though this house is so high, yet shall every one that passeth by it be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath Jehovah done thus unto this land, and to this house? 9 and they shall answer, Because they forsook Jehovah their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath Jehovah brought all this evil upon them.
10 And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, wherein Solomon had built the two houses, the house of Jehovah and the king’s house

8 This temple will become a heap of rubble. All[a] who pass by will be appalled(A) and will scoff and say, ‘Why has the Lord done such a thing to this land and to this temple?’(B) 9 People will answer,(C) ‘Because they have forsaken(D) the Lord their God, who brought their ancestors out of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them—that is why the Lord brought all this disaster(E) on them.’”
